Alan | 158 comments I'm not new, but I have a question. How do I post something on the homepage, the Updates? I can't figure it out. Yes, when it comes to computers, I'm just plain stupid. Alan Zacher

Hi Alan, I moved your thread to "Techno Corner".

I'm not sure what you mean by posting on the homepage. Do you mean the update feed?

If the little box below the comment box is checked, down there where it says "Add to my Update Feed", every time you make a comment it will go onto the homepage and your friends will see it on their update feeds. (You don't see it on your update feed, however. You can see the comment if you go to your page.)

You can also change your account settings to make this automatic. I'll be back in a minute with the link.

OK, if you go to the top right of the page, any page, you see your avatar and next to that and arrow.

Click on that to open the drop down menu and select edit profile.

A page will open with a lot of "tabs"... pick "feeds": you can pick and choose which kinds of comments you make go onto your friends feeds.

I hope that was helpful. Let me know if I wasn't clear enough.

Alan | 158 comments Thank you. Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to know. When the homepage comes up, I see all of the postings and didn't know how they did that. I'll try what you sent me. Thank again, Alan

Ann | 151 comments In honor of the lonely "Techno Corner", I have a question.

Can I write one comment/post and send it to all my friends, or some of my friends, or do I have to write a comment on each friend site? I'm hoping to be able to say something once to all my friends. HELP. Thanks.

Hi Ann, did you find the answer to your question?

I haven't been on GR much lately, so I'm sorry I didn't get to you sooner.

That would be a "Broadcast Message", but I think only moderators can do that.

Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 103 comments @ Alan and Ann,

If you post a 'general update', it will be on your 'updates' (your home page) and it will be broadcast to all your friends and anyone who 'follows your reviews'.

To post a general update, check the 'Currently Reading' on your home page (updates). Under your books, it says 'add a book' and 'add a general update'. Click on the last option and make a general update.

Thanks Martyn :-)

Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 103 comments No Prob.

Not everything on GR is 'intuitive'. For instance, not many people know how to find the html codes to put in their messages, because the tab is (some html is ok), which is not clearly marked as a tab.
