(sorry, whenever I read books set anywhere in the South I can't help myself...and lately I've read a couple of books set in Louisiana. Just be thankful I didn't throw in a Gumbo comment...oh wait, I just did.)
Debra wrote: "Hi I'm From A small rural town , Iberia, Missouri."Welcome Debra...just out of curiosity, do people really say, "Missoura" and if so, who would say that?
Yeah Jane approx 3 hours its just a small town monto isn't it?? I think one of our sawmills was out that way when I used to work for Dale and Meyers Timber trade centre not 100% since I haven't worked for them for a few years
I think one sawmill is left - the ex-govt closed our Mulgildie one down about 3 years ago. Yes - Monto's just a small town; maybe 1,500 ppl? I work in Bris though, part-time - so a lot of time to listen to audiobooks on my drive!
I love Kyoto. You could see the city in a few days, but not see everything in 5 lifetimes. I remember seeing this OL outside of Kyoto-eki feeding wild birds crumbs from her hand while business-men buzzed past. お元気で
Ian, I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. Everything is beautiful, that's for sure, but I'm not comfortable living in tourist towns. Had the same unease in San Francisco, actually. I joke that I left my heart in Kawasaki. ^^;
Kazen wrote: "Everything is beautiful, that's for sure, but I'm not comfortable living in tourist towns.."After the monstrosity that is Tokyo, I'll take a few tourists any day. I actually caught the N700 from Tokyo to Kyoto and when I bought my ticket the only seats available were in a smokers carriage.
The exhaust vents in that carriage had no chance. I smoke cigars so I know what a room full of smoke is like but after that trip I felt ill for a day.
I guess I should be thankful for small blessings...it was the N700 so I only needed to hold my breath for just over 2 hours.
