This is exactly as the name implies. It's an idea box where you can float around ideas for other people to help you flesh out or let them borrow it. Remember, if you post an idea here, than someone else might use it.

So I have a girl named Arturia who is heading to Camelot to become a knight and become High king eventually. But between her arriving in camelot and her drawing the sword out of the stone, she has nothing better to do. Can someone help me think of conflict or something that would provide a plot point for me to work on?

message 3: by Frances (last edited Jan 15, 2009 10:29PM) (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) 1. Considering her lineage, Uther might have sent someone to spy on her and report back every so often. (She'd be a threat to his rule.) If he had, and she found out about this spy, that could be a plot point.

2. Give her some reason in the middle of her journey to Camelot to want return home, aside from homesickness. Maybe something involving her friend, Isabella?

3. Also, build up things for her to lose when she does become king. (Hard earned things worth a lot to her, that way there would be more tension at the turning point of the story?)

4. Not sure how much help this will be, but think of things that cause internal conflict and life-changing decisions, or decisions that would serve as a point for character growth. Things like death, murder, priorities, motivations, etc.

I've discovered that sleep deprivation is a wonderful way to give you ideas.

message 6: by Frances (last edited Jan 16, 2009 11:30AM) (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) It is. The things you can think of in the early mornings when everything's whimsical and floating...

Well, I also think pretty well whenever I'm just staring at my ceiling at night. Problem is, I forget when I wake up, so now, I keep a pen and paper next to my bed.

It's a marvelous way to help stay organized and keep thoughts together.

message 9: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) I've tried that a few times, and found that I could decipher maybe 1 out of every 100 words.

Heh, wait, do you write with the light on or off? :).

message 11: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) Off~ If I go to turn the lights on, it's like the lights purge my mind of any thought. >.<

Victor (damoclesword) | 604 comments Mod
Heh, that's not good. Well, what about a flashlight?

message 13: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) Flashlights have this weird unnatural colored light that reminds me of hospitals. (I'm...so picky.)

message 14: by Victor, King's Blade (new)

Victor (damoclesword) | 604 comments Mod
:). Hospitals aren't the most comforting place to be.

I suppose. It reminds me of something I read somewhere.

message 16: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) Mm?

Something about hospitals being evil. i don't remember. I think it was a Stephen King novel though.

message 18: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (fimbulvetr) | 40 comments Wait, why exactly does she aspire to be a knight? Your description doesn't seem to mention.

message 19: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) (Kevin, CVMS ain't da bomb)

Victor (damoclesword) | 604 comments Mod
She was aspiring to be a knight because it was the dying wish of her grandfather. However, since Camelot was (really) sexist and there weren't any female knights, that's a problem she has to overcome.

Kevin (fimbulvetr) | 40 comments Ah.

Thanks. :). I'm finding it extraordinarily difficult to find a plot though.

Due to the fact that it's the weekend and I can't concentrate.

message 25: by Appleworm (new)

Appleworm | 6 comments I liked message 4, #4...

There should probably be some sort of threat established in the story, maybe something like scamming... Maybe she has competition. I prefer to read stories where two things compete for a more superior role?

More info plz :D

Yeah, I guess you could read my story on goodreads?

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Let's do a group story.

message 28: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 42 comments Yes, that'd be fun =)
We could each write a chapter.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Or a sentence. Preferably paragraph, but oh wells. Who's going to start?

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Wait, I'll make a separate topic. look under group story.

Victor (damoclesword) | 604 comments Mod
Ok, looks cool.

message 32: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) Let's try to keep it more serious though...not about a mighty cowboy named Buck that'll end up a caricature of the West.

message 33: by Frances (new)

Frances (parentheticalnote) Or not. XP

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

...wow, victor.
