This books primary author is listed as N. K. Sandars, but Sandars is the
translator not the author.

All the other editions is listed under Anonymous.

In a related question, the correct here is not to use Unknown in place of
Anonymous as the authorship is uncertain?

Thanks.

Amara Tanith (aftanith) You're definitely right in that the primary author of that edition shouldn't be N.K. Sandars. I've changed it to Anonymous based on the other editions.

As for whether it's more appropriately listed under Anonymous or Unknown, a brief read of both author pages makes me suspect it's more appropriate under Unknown, but I'm not incredibly familiar with the Unknown/Anonymous distinction, so I'll leave that for someone else's opinion.

Thanks Amara!

"traditional stories not attributed to a specific author"

RE: Die Amalgame Stadt: Orte. Netze. Milieus
by Oliver Frey

I received a communication from Oliver Frey that he is not the author of this book and his name should be removed as author.

He does not know who the author is and a search did not find the author.

What should I do?

Amara Tanith (aftanith) It appears that there are several "Oliver Frey"s mixed into a single profile. If the one you're in correspondence with can tell us which books do belong to him, we can clean up a profile for him.

Every book in Oliver Frey's profile is his except for the one I mentioned, Die Amalgame Stadt: Orte. Netze. Milieus.

Nenangs | 464 comments a search by the english translation comes up with this "oliver frey":
http://isra.tuwien.ac.at/frey/Englisc...

and worldcat also confirms:
http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=wor...

probably need a disambiguation.

ETA:
it's oliver^^frey now.

The Oliver Frey in your searches (above) is not Oliver Frey of Ludlow, England who is an illustrator not an author. He has stated Die Amalgame Stadt: Orte. Netze. Milieus. is not his.

So this must be a different Oliver Frey. Please create a profile for this other Oliver Frey and have Die Amalgame Stadt: Orte. Netze. Milieus show in the profile for this "new" Oliver Frey.

I cannot. I will email him and see if he would like to provide a profile.

In that case, here is where he can claim his profile, if he is interested in doing so.

Thank you! I just received an email from his partner which promised a bio within 10 ten days.

PROBLEM:

When going the link provided in your message it comes up with this warning:

Note: We encourage all authors to sign up under their real names, and your first name (Lucas) doesn't match — we suggest you correct this before applying.

The profile is mine. If he changes the data in the profile he will co-opt my Goodreads profile.

If this is fixed, I will let him know he needs to claim his profile but I cannot do that the way things are set up now.

Please advise.

message 15: by Krystal109 (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments That will show up for whoever is looking at the page. When the author makes an account with the first name matching, it will not say that.

In other words, if I went to the link it would say my name instead.

Amara Tanith (aftanith) The claiming process works by turning the account that sends the application into an author account. If he's interested in the program, he needs to create his own account (if he does not already have one) and use it to send in the application.

He has an Author profile with his books at:

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

I guess what he needs is a GR membership and then he can sign in and edit the existing Author Profile data. Is this correct?

Sorry if I'm being dense.

message 18: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Yes - he needs to sign up with GR then use the link to claim the author profile.

Once claimed instead of saying Author Profile on the page, it will say GoodReads Author Profile.
