Love it? Hate it?
This series has attracted quite a few followers and everyone has an opinion on the series, the story and the movies.
Do you love it? Are you a Jacob or Edward fan?
Have your say about the series here.

Lekeisha (lekeishathebooknerd) I love the books better than the movies. Although, the movies are great, I prefer the complete story. I'm team Edward all the way. I don't really care too much for Rosalie. Even though her past was just heartbreaking, she still didn't have to act so mean and self righteous. Overall, I fell deeply in love with the whole Saga.

Mindee (mindee07) | 5 comments I love it. I think the books are better than the movies but I like them too, some of the movies leave too much out from the books. Team Edward.

message 4: by Robert (new)

Robert Mcgrath (bolamop) The books, whilst plainly written were still an enjoyable read. The movies are relatively enjoyable. Team Emmett anyone? ;P

Not a fan of either, I thought the story was wishy washy and a naive (but not in the good sense). And Bella was the most moodiest and grumpiest insufferable teen I have ever read about. Don't get me wrong everyone has different opinions and there were aspects that could have made it a fantastic read, but then I really didn't enjoy Harry Potter either! so who I am I to judge lol!
I thought the whole connection between Jacob and Bella's unborn child was very unsettling and little strange. But I was raised on Buffy who was a strong confident heroine who was able to hold her own!.
Sorry guys... I am normally fan of vamp fiction but this one just didn't work at all :(.

Don't stress Anna, this topic is for lovers and haters. I agree with you about Bella, but for different reasons. I loved the books but hated her in the movies...she just wasn't portrayed right. But that is just my gripe about kirsten Stewart.

Rob, I love Emmett, he is such a sweetie!
I always thought the characters were just too young for me...regardless of immortality.
Emmett however....mmmmmm
I think if you read the books and end up watching the movies, that they should be thought of differently. And not joined....am I making sense? Sorry I have had a big day and my mind is apparently starting to go wharblegarble.

Heather87 | 6 comments These books gave me the introduction into vampires, werewolves etc etc so thought they were good however after reading many other authors I've realised how utterly annoying the characters really are. I still enjoy the story's but think they've been given far too much credit for what they really are.

message 9: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Hauver (jaxhauv) | 2 comments I loved this series! I devoured the books. The movies are ok. I'm not a huge Kristen Stewart fan, so I'm not thrilled with her portrayal of Bella. As far as Jacob and Edward go I like them both. I was happy that Jacob wasn't left out in the dark. I'm glad he imprinted on Renesme.

message 10: by Tammy (new)

Tammy (tammyo73) | 66 comments Loved series. Sad when ended. The movies do not even come close to the books. In fact, I think if people watch the movie they won't read her books. Host is awesome too. She takes a whole different spin. She makes you want to stay in her world and not put it down. However , I prefer her to stick to vampires.

message 11: by Idalis (new)

Idalis Brimos I have seen all the Twilight movies so far except for Breaking Dawn Part 2 obviously, so i recently decided to read the first book of the series and it was so amazing. Way better then the movie but I still love the movie and can't wait for the last one to come out. I am stuck between Edward and Jacob though but more leaning towards Edward.

message 12: by Terab (new)

Terab (fiddylover) The Twilight series actually got me interested in reading! I always hated to read & when I saw the 1st Twilight movie, I thought, OMG I must read these books! I finished them in a week -amazing for me bcuz I read slow. Now, I have an ereader, a kindle, tons of PB's and I can't get enough. I'd rather read than watch TV now. I'm very thankful for the series. I'm a diehard Edward fan - I'm also one of those crazy fans, that goes to midnight showings, Twilight conventions, has Twilight memorabilia, etc! Oh & I obviously love the books more but I do like the movies and the actors, too. I hope & pray that S. Meyer will finish Midnight Sun - it will be the icing on the cake - actually anything new from her will be great and I cannot wait!

message 13: by Jenelle (new)

Jenelle I actually enjoyed reading the books. Props to Meyer for taking a mythos and making it her own. I know she gets a lot of guff for her "sparkly" vampires, but I gotta give her credit for being unique - and for portraying baseball the way it's SUPPOSED to be played! ;)

I also have a lot of issues with the codependent/stalker-esque/super unhealthy relationships within the books. Didn't really LOVE any of the characters... I think Bella is only a worthwhile character in the fourth book. Jacob pretty much lost all my esteem and respect when he started being manipulative.

I greatly enjoy mocking the movies. Anyone else notice that Edward (at least in the second movie) constantly looks like he's posing for a clothing magazine photo shoot? (I do understand that this is because he is not actually IN the 2nd book much, but they had to write him into the movie so they wouldn't lose the "team Edward" audience)

Brenda Boulanger (slicksrants) | 6 comments Love it
Own it
TEAM EDWARD BABY!!!!!
So excited that Stephanie M announced the next book will be Renesme 20 yrs later, no something I thought of. Really excited!

Melissa (crimsonangel) | 1 comments I love the books. I am TEAM EDWARD always. I can't wait for the next book. I would still like to see Midnight Sun finished.

I just found the best website. It shows you what twilight would have been like if it was written by other authors.
http://io9.com/5872490/if-famous-writ...
The original post was here:

Read the comments on both pages. You will find it quite interesting.

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 9 comments In the end, it really doesn't matter if it's a good book at all so long as it is able to entice people into picking up a book and reading it:)

See I'm the sort of reader who invariably thinks that hype must mean that there's something halfway decent about the book or film that all the hoopla is about. Thus far, most of the hyped YA stuff has been a disappointment, this series, much more so.

Twilight was a hit and miss for a lot of people.
I really liked the books. For me I compared Edward and Bella's relationship to other relationships that you read about. Its not abusive yes he leaves her , but only because he didn't want to hurt her( which ended up doing the opposite).
Stephanie Meyer has tried to do something different. By humanising he vampires, making them Daywalkers. Well that is something a lot of authors try to do and this author has done it in a unique way.
I love the different ways that vampires are portrayed and that may be why I like the series so much.

message 19: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 9 comments You have a point there, but I guess it boils down to personal preference, and I found humanising the vampires rather over simplistic, and surely there was another way of referring to vamps who did not feed off humans other than 'vegetarian'? why not call them 'humanitarian' and play with the definition of that word, changing it to mean that yes they 'care' about humans in the sense that they don't drink them.

I guess the trouble with trying to buck the trend and doing something contra to convention is the inevitable either it's genius, or it just doesn't work, and personally, I found the 'sparklepires' didn't really tick the boxes I had hoped they might, but that's just me.

message 20: by Kassassinn (new)

Kassassinn | 6 comments Reading the books I was always Team Edward (I even bought the Team Edward shoelaces!) but since the movies came out I'm definitely more Team Switzerland. When reading the books, I found I didn't recognize how skewed Bella's view of the world is.

message 21: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1 comments Hi, I am new to this site and would like to introduce myself and provide my opinion on the subject. I liked the books. You have to remember that this book was orginally for the younger generations. If you would like a more adult feel to the vampire genre Anne Rice is very good and I also am starting to enjoy Scott Mariani and the vampire federation series. I am team Jasper. I think that the way he was brought into the vampire world was well described in the book and I really enjoy the complex character that he is.
