Right now I'm reading them one after the other and it's wonderful! The cases flow, the relationships flow, and things that are brought up from previous books are fresh. It's like being within the story in "real time". Well, as real as it gets for fiction!! LOL!!
You really GET this series. That's how I read the books, one after another and it flows seamlessly.

Portrait in Death is one of my fans so far (Along with Divided In Death), and that has a lot to do with the discovery of Roarke's family and how he handled it. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention that it was abridged. That was a HUGE disappointment because large chunks of the romance/relationship/personal stuff was cut out. The whole conversation between Eve and Roark's Aunt wasn't in it. I've listened to CD's before, but not books I'd already read, therefore I didn't know if anything was missing. Now I'd like to get the unabridged (on sale!) but all I can find are ones that adapt to MP3 players.

It's also one of my most read scenes as well! I'm surprised that they cut out that part in the audiobook. I think anything related to Eve forming bonds with friends/family is a huge step for her character, so cutting it out makes it less developed IMO. I haven't actually listened to any ID audiobooks so I'm kind of glad I stuck with the paper formats.
