Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Can anyone get this author's name to be César?

No matter what I do, it keeps trying to merge into the GR author profile for Cesar:

I don't know if this is a bug or just something weird with my computer....

(See this post from Cesar for more info. César should be listed as the illustrator for these three books.)

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments I've noticed recently that accented and unaccented letters are treated as the same.

I was fixing an author who I was unaware had accent marks and it prompted me to merge with an accented author. I assumed it was a feature to help with duplicate authors.... but if that's the case I don't think its possible to disambiguate by accents.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Huh, I think you're right! I just tested and it will save the accent mark if it's not the same as an unaccented author's name.

Well, shoot. Good new feature, unexpected bad side effect! The benefits of this will almost certainly outweigh the problems, but does anyone have a suggestion about how to handle this particular edge case? Does poor Cesar just have to live with César's books?
