I NEED HELP PLEASE What book is this? (Historical fiction) It's a about a girl named Jamie who's the youngest of her sibs (all girls). The dad and sisters are bums so Jamie does all the housework. A Scot and his friend came to the house to pick two girls to be made wives. Dad hides Jamie cuz he didn't want her chosen cuz then no one will do the housework. Jamie hides but the Scot found her and chose her. Scot's friend chose her uppity older sister. Jamie fell in love with the Scot and they took care a a little girl. I think the author is linda howard but I'm not entirely sure.

That book sounds like it may be The Bride by Julie Garwood. Even if it is not the book you were looking for, you should still read it. It is an awesome book! One of my all time favorites.
Another comment about the book you are looking for. The hero did not like her name, Jamie, because it sounded like a man's name. There is also a scene where her rocking chair is delivered to her new home and everyone is just astounded at such a stupid chair. That book has one of my very favorite lines of all time. ". She started three wars in the first week."
When you mentioned the Bride it did sound like it. I don't remember them taking care of a little girl, but everything after that does. I have to reread that book. It has been a long time since I have read her older books. I recently read Wired. Loved it!
