Just a note that I've changed question #1, so if you've already written down or copied the questions check them again...thanks Wendy for pointing out my mistake!!

He waved a hand. "Faeries. I know."
"I was going to say muggers," said Clary.
- City of Bones,Cassandra Clare
It shows the different worlds that Clary and Jace grew up in and it's amusing.

I loved this quote because I totally agree. Sarcasm just pisses people off and makes the person doing sound like an ass. It's curious why people use it so often. Still this quote makes me laugh and totally made my day which was shitty. No huge insights but o well.

“You forget, darling. I am the local psychopath.” -Clay talking to Elena.
It's one of my favorite quotes from it because it's just Clay in a nutshell and he was hands down my favorite part of the book. He really is a bit of a psychopath and a little crazy but the man knows who and what he is, fully accepts himself and is unapologetic about it. Love that even if he is a little scary :)

For me this quote along with the poem "Do not go gentle into the night" enforces what the main characters Cassie, Xander and Ky have to do. All three decided that they want to remember and go against everything that their society says. By doing this, they are sending a repel of defiance against the government that doesn't want people remembering the old ways.
I'll be drawing a winner tonight :)
August contest is coming, but will not be posted until the weekend.
August contest is coming, but will not be posted until the weekend.

For me, the one that really stuck out (before I read these ones, which I now want to comment on) was the lesson Jace learned from his father: "to love is to destroy and to be loved is to be destroyed."
The story about the falcon was probably my favorite part of the whole book. This quote however, resonated both within and without.
It works within the book on several levels. (view spoiler) the philosophy has merit.
Loving another destroys that person's identity - we take charge of the Other through our perception of what they are and what makes them worthy or unworthy of the love. We create a new self for them, which they will either reject (unrequited love) try to match, or try to alter. But love always changes. It destroys. If we are lucky, it also rebuilds. To be loved by someone is also destructive - again because it modifies our options. Love is restrictive - it makes us want different things. That's what makes it so wonderful. But... it still destroys. /shrug.
