A 20-something man wakes up without memory and finds himself in a nation that administers a Watched List of its own citizens. He meets people who accept invasive surveillance by the government and forced uniformity by the church as necessary safeguards for protecting the homeland. The amnesiac learns quickly that opposition is heresy--and punishable by death.
As we continue to embrace new technologies we are definately losing our privacy and it appears this trend will continue. Adam's heading "Struggling to conform to a surveillance society" caught my eye since that is one of the themes of my latest novel, Desperate Dreams, but the amnesiac twist is interesting since the hero wouldn't have had the luxury of gradually being indoctrinated into the intrusive society so would have a very literal rude awakening. Sounds like an interesting story.
