Hey there, I haven't myself, because I'm trying to finish another book, but has anyone started reading Middlemarch yet? This group is awfully quiet at present....
Hi Penny. I haven't started yet. I did a lot of serious reading and then, at the recommendation of a well-read friend, tried a Charlaine Harris novel for a break. That and its sequels have sustained me through a week of lurgies. And my copy of The Hunger Angel will probably arrive this week, so I'm not sure about getting around to Middlemarch. Which I probably shouldn't be admitting to, here.
I have started! But just now and only two pages - I found the prologue utterly dull but the first page showed promise. My problem is that I'm also reading another book...
I just don't have the enthusiasm. I cannot say why exactly. I know I didn't feel like this last year with Anna Karenina. Was it because Wuthering Heights was sooooo bad? I've now finished all my compulsory reading for my course, so I should have plenty of reading time, but after reading 30 pages I can't remember a lot of what was in them...damn!
Everyone who has read this book keeps saying to me 'oh I really really loved that book. It's so amazing.' So I guess I'd better get cracking properly on it...
