Tessa decides she can’t be with Jem whilst being in love with Will.
She can’t be with either so she flee’s to America, where we later bump into her.
The only cure to save Jem is for him to become a Silent Brother, so he becomes Brother Jeremiah, and Will becomes Brother Zachariah along side Jem.
He (Jem) died in City of Ashes.
And then we saw a grieving Tessa in City of Glass.
Hmmmm, I wonder why she was grieving?

why would brother zachariah (the proposed Will) say that they owe alot to the herondales. will is anything but a narcicist (him pretending to be one does not count). i dont see him the type to sing the herondale praises. tessa wouldnt run away leaving them both. and if will became a silent brother then what branch of family did stephen herondale come from. his full name is stephen 'william' herondale by the way. okay so maybe that could happen if they are cecily's direct descendants and cecily didnt change her name after she got married. but then again the book is based in the 19th century.

It seems like the Jem thing is too obvious (and convenient) to be the case - if she wanted it to be the big twist why would she give it away 6 months before we're supposed to find out? I expect this will turn out to be a red herring and the silent brother will be someone unexpected. Usually I find that for however many problems I have with Clare's writing I don't always know every twist that is coming and this is a BIG one.
Mia - you found people that missed the point of that conversation?

Like I said, it was a theory I found - I don't necessarily believe it.
And the thing about the names is irrelevant because Cassandra Clare said that families liked to incestuously recycle names and that there could be other Herondale families.

I see what you mean, and Cassandra is very clever and sneaky, but Tessa shows up in the mortal instruments as well, she has confirmed this herself. And i for sure never thought of this before i read this, so why not? :)

It could be possible

It could be possible

I know right?!?! How is it possible!?!?!?!?
I know right?!?! How is it possible!?!?!?!?

I know it does all fit, but It just doesn't feel right to me it's just to obvious. But I sorta want it to be true cause then jem doesn't die

"Will rose slowly to his feet. He could not believe he was doing what he was doing, but it was clear that he was, clear as the silver rim around the black of Jem’s eyes. “If there is a life after this one,” he said, “let me meet you in it, James Carstairs.”
“There will be other lives.” Jem held his hand out, and for a moment, they clasped hands, as they had done during their parabatai ritual, reaching across twin rings of fire to interlace their fingers with each other. “The world is a wheel,” he said. “When we rise or fall, we do it together.”
Will tightened his grip on Jem’s hand, which felt thin as twigs in his. “Well, then,” he said, through a tight throat, “since you say there will be another life for me, let us both pray I do not make as colossal a mess of it as I have this one.”

his parabatai rune was bleeding
Not your parabatai anymore

He can't become a silent brother tho because he is human and can't bear shadow hunter marks let alone silent brother marks
I hope they do...Will was so adorable when he was singing about deamon pox...
i think jem dies, sorry jem may your soul rest in peace, and will cant bare the pain so he turns into a silent brother

His immediante family dies yes but Clare has said he may have other relatives we don't know about, I really hop he doesn't die tho

am i the only one who has noticed that brother zachariah from the mortal instruments series is a little toooooo devoted to the Herondales. in the city of lost souls (mortal instrumenst #5) when clary asks brother zachariah if he has ever loved any one and would've died for, he says he loved two people more then anything. People! its Jem. brother zachariah is realy jem. inearly cried when i realized that. but no one seems to be agrreing with me. he is loyal to the herondales because of will and the two people he ever loved were will and tessa. consider the possibility.
