Margare,
The Promise is the only Danielle Steele that I truly liked...I've read that like a lifetime ago..but I can still remember the blurb.."Now the lovers will be tried, now the lovers will be tested, the way lovers seldom are." Have you seen the movie version of that book?

Oh..yes...The one who likes The Promise by Danielle Steele...LOL..just in the habit of welcoming everybody...LOL
I read The Promise years ago but I don't go for Danielle Steel books now - they are too predictable. I love Lesley Pearse, Gillian White, Geraldine O'Neill, Dianne Blacklock. Thanks for your welcome!
Right now, I'm in Orlando, Florida. I grew up in the Philippines. It was a pretty old movie, so I don't know if it is still available.
Here is a link about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prom...

I visit the libraries too! And if I can, I get a library card, bookmark or bookbag. I have so many now. But I love going to other libraries and sussing them out.
Haha, thanks, ladies. LLass, isn't it cool? They can be so different (and yet at heart so alike, deep, dude, LOL) and they say a lot about a town. Like when I went to Seattle and noticed that no income tax = itty bitty libraries. I was like, "Nooooooo! Stella!" LOL. I tell you, I was going to cry I was so outraged. The library in the city is amazing though-- the architecture alone is gorgeous. If any of you fellow bookworms haven't seen it yet, here's a snapshot.
"Nooooooo!Stella" ROTFLMAO!!!!!new_user, you are just too funny. I love it!!!
I travel to Washington most of the time (for work). I haven't had a lot of time to get out and about or rather made a point of getting out and about. You have inspired me to get out and look at this library. It is truly gorgeous!
The library I visited in Nashville, TN was absolutely yummy. All wood and marble. Just like a very old-fashioned looking library but with all the mod-cons. Loved it
Hi everyone,I don't think I answered this "tell us something about yourself". Forgive me if I did. I'm rather brain-dead these days.
First off, I'm happy to be here because there's nothing I like better than talking books. All books.
I just finished reading Forbidden by Helen Kirkman and LOVED it. It's about a rich woman who buys an indentured man. The chemistry between them sizzles!
Okay, where was I? My birthday is November 26th. My favorite food is pizza and iced tea or coffee. I guess those are beverages. I'm a caffeine addict. No pop though. My favorite color is black! Oh, that's dreadful. The first romance novel I read was The Flame and the Flower. We shall all miss Woodiwiss' writing, one of the queens of romance.
I'm an author, and that's WHY I'm brain-dead these days. Three releases in two months and I've been trying to get the word out about my books. You can read the reviews here on Goodreads if you care to look for them.
Here's a wee bit about them.
Land of Falling Stars, an erotica historical, Civil War. Published by Ravenous Romance.
Dust and Moonlight, an erotica fantasy, being reviewed right now by Coffee Time. Keta biting her nails. Published by Siren Publishing.
Decadent Deceptions, an erotica historical featuring voyeurism. Finalist in the prestigous Molly Contest, 2008, published by Noble Romance.
That's enough about my books . . . except, please drop by web site and enter my contest to win FREE books. I give them away every month. www.ketadiablo.com. And my author blog features well-known authors every week. Get the scoop on their books. Here's the url. Keta's Keep. http://ketaskeep.blogspot.com/. I don't give away free books on there, but it's kind of fun. Leave me a comment or two.
Now, I'm going to read all the posts and find out everyone's favs.
Thanks for having me! Talk to you all soon.

Birthday: June 12thFavorite Color: Green
Favorite Food: Thai Curry and Sushi
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): can't remember that far back
Favorite Romance Genre: historical
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because.... Over New Years I was traveling and finished a book on the plane. As soon as we landed I had to find a bookstore in the airport so that I would have something to read at the hotel. I saw Twilight and my students have read it and raved about it. So I bought it. I read it overnight and the next day had to go to Barns and Nobel to by the other three. And that is when I realized it was an addiction.
Thank you! So what authors would you advise me to check out? I enjoy Juliet Marillier and I loved the Twilight series. I like Kathleen Eagle, enjoyed the Notebook, and Bridges of Madison County. I hear a lot about Nora Roberts and figure I better check her out!
Mary Ellen,Do you lean more towards historical, contemporary, suspense/thriller or paranormal romances or do you prefer mainstream ones like Nicholas Spark, etc?
Nora Roberts has written so many romance novels, so she might be a good writer to start with.
Other Nicolas Spark's weren't as good as the Notebook. I think I'll have to check out a Nora Roberts. I think I would like any type of romance as long as it is well written. Do you have a favorite?
I have a few Nora Robert's favorites and most of them are trilogies, with a paranormal twist, because that is my favorite genre.I like her Circle trilogy (MOrrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Silence). It's about six people (a witch, a wizard, a warrior, a shapeshifter, a scholar and a vampire) joining forces to fight the evil vampire Queen Lilith in order to save the world.
There is also the Sign of Seven trilogy (Blood Brothers, The Hollow, The Pagan Stone) about three best friends fighting an ancient demon that plagued their town.
I'm currently reading another trilogy of hers called the Three Sisters Island. So far I've finished the first one and it's quite good. This one has witches in it.
I'm sure she has other good ones that are not paranormal. Hang around and there will be others who can give you better suggestions.
Some of my favorite contemporary romance authors are:Jennifer Crusie
Rachel Gibson
Katie MacAlister (she writes paranormal romance as well)
Meg Cabot (for fun, fast reads, try The Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, and Every Boy's Got One)
Elaine Fox
Carly Phillips

First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): No idea. First book I can remember reading is Tom Sawyer for school in 4th grade. As for a book I choose myself, it was the Trixie Belden mysteries (which, btw, I still have). Oldest romance novel I can remember reading was called "Big Doc's Girl". Still have it too. lol
Favorite Romance Genre: Romantic Suspense

Hey Briansgirl. I was a huge Trixie Belden fan. I liked those books much better than Nancy Drew. Most people I mention those to have never heard of them. Welcome to the insane reading club...hope you can keep up :)

First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember):susan elizabeth phillips 'It had to be you'
Favorite Romance Genre:contemporary
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because....I forget housework, I arrive late at work, I don't call my friends, 'cos I have to read
ETA I only read ebooks because my house is already overflowing, I simply don't have space for more books, and I hate to throw them away
I think I might have a favorite TV show after all: The Drs. I love that show. I think it's past time for a show like that, considering everything else on TV.
Lori wrote: "Hey Briansgirl. I was a huge Trixie Belden fan. I liked those books much better than Nancy Drew. Most people I mention those to have never heard of them."I never liked Nancy Drew either, or the Hardy Boys. (Although I did like watching The Hardy Boys on tv. lol). I bought the first ten Hardy Boys books for my son to read but they are so dated he hated it so put it down. I still own my Trixie Belden books. I have 28 of them. My library when I was growing up had the rest. I've tried buying some on ebay to complete my collection. The only cheap ones are the reissued first ones I already have. The farther you go back, the harder they are to find and the more they cost. I even have a Trixie Belden trivia book. lol I actually thought about rereading these since I havn't since I was a teenager to see what it was that I liked so much. :0) Is it sad being in your 40s and still having a set of books you read as a preteen/teenager? lol
