Alexis YES. I would love to read more about Charlie and his life. I'd like to know what happens when it comes time for him to graduate. Also I would like to see what happens with Sam and Patrick. And, I'd like to see that Charlie listened to his sister and stopped smoking.

Cheyenne Yes. I really enoyed this novel and it lived up to the huge hype that surrounded it.

Kim Friant I absolutely loved this book!! i would read a sequel, but i would do so cautiously. I wouldn't want to ruin it with any pre-conceived notions based on the first book. But yes, i would read a sequel

I've never really thought about Perks having a sequel and don't think it needs one, but YES, I would 100% read every word of it.

I never really thought about whether or not it needed a sequel, but thats an interesting way of looking at it. you're right i don't think it needs a sequel and i'm kinda wondering if having more information in another book might not be a good thing. Would a sequel hurt the original book more than help?

Sara I would read it because of how amazing the first book was, but I only hope that it wouldn't leave a different impression of the book in my mind.

Cora I don't think I would read a second one. The book ended in a certain way that leads us to believe Charlie wouldn't be needing to write anymore. Although it would be cool if there was a second, I don't think it is necessary.

Fatema I think eventually I would, maybe - only out of curiosity, but I would have my concerns about it. I feel like squeals are sometimes just there because the book series (or even movies can be taken account into this) have made the producers or companies a lot of money - so why not exploit it further. But I just feel like this novel, on its own is powerful as a stand alone. I don't think it needs another edition here, personally. It may hinder it, rather than be something that would lift the series up any further.

Emily I actually would love a sequel. It would be cool if the author wrote one when Charlie was first becoming a dad or he was a freshman in college. The reason why I think there should be a sequel is because the first book has not only changed my life, but a lot of other readers. By the time you are done with the book, Charlie becomes a part of you. You feel like Charlie is truly your friend and you are yearning more than anything for Charlie to write just one more letter. Why? Because we are all a little like Charlie, and we feel like he gets us. And when you read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the world gets a little less scary and a little more friendlier for the time being.

message 11: by Rob (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rob I'd definitely read it, although I don't think it is needed. The book alone was enough for me. I saw an interview with the writer in which he said that a sequel could be possible, I'd definitely like to read more about Patrick.

Yousra Nope, wasn't a huge fan of the first.

ϟEvelynϟ HEEELLLLL YA

Fahad Rahman A sequel sounds like a terrible idea what's wrong with you people?! It ended in a great place... what's left to talk about?

Rabab I'd read a sequel because I loved the first book, but I wouldn't want a sequel, I think it ended quite well as it is

Ma. Edessa I would like to know what will happen to Charlie when he graduate from high school.

jennyreadit NO!!!! It ended as it should have... most sequels never live up to the first and then all I can do is remember the bad sequel rather than replaying the fine original in my mind.

Example: Holes and Small Steps

I totally agree. This book was fantastic and I loved how it ended. Why would you want there to be a sequel? Plus: if he seriously wrote two books worth of letters, he should be admitted. I might read it, but I would much rather see a totally different book from this author, as he is very talented:)

Maddy No.

Bookiemom LG I think it ended well and it is nice to leave the reader with our own opinions of what Charlie grew up to be and how his life turned out....

Kieran If there was a sequel I would read it because I loved this book. But I think it ended perfectly and to me the book wouldn't work when Charlie was older because it's like, he found friends and found a way to fit in. So to me the story has finished - perfectly.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I dont think I would like to read a sequel, because the book really doesnt need one ; it ended perfectly. However, I would love to read another book by Chbovsky, whether it was in the same format, a different format, whatever. Or maybe it would be kool to read a book from the point of view of Patrick or Sam, thoughts? I would love to know more pieces to the puzzle that was Charlie's highschool career.

Bookiemom LG That sounds interesting!

Iman the Bookwitch Of course i would read a sequal, but what more is there to write, to tell?
anything more and the book wouldve been too long, and too wordy for my liking. the book was perfectly perfect in every way.

Kaeri I probably won't. I loved Perks, and it doesn't deserve a sequel because it doesn't need one. There's no point. All ends have been tied up nicely, no loose ends, and the novel made its point crystal clear.

Thx!

Billie Rose I love this book and am a huge fan, but I don't see how there could be a sequel and think it was fine where it was left off.

nedy ann ginez I think i would! :D

message 29: by Erin (new) - rated it 1 star

Erin nope

Rachel Ann I love this book and it is fine without a sequel. As the ending meant that Charlie will participate and life goes on. I picture Charlie finally having friends of his age and a happier Charlie. :)

Valerie yes, I would very much like to read a sequel as I love to know more what happens to the characters.

Megan YES!! I would love to read about Charlie's experiences in college and his adult life. Also to see if he would still be friends with Patrick and Sam.

Areena No, I wouldn't. Was a little disappointed by the first one if you know what I mean.

Nicole I would totally read a sequel.

em (lattereads) No. It's not that this book is bad, I enjoyed it. But the ending left a huge, hole or something. I can't have it ripped even more.

message 36: by Sonny (new) - added it

Sonny No, I loved the book and it doesn't warrant a sequel. What could it possibly accomplish? Leave it as a standalone, too many books are ruined when an author drags it on with sequels that were never necessary.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe, just because of curiousity. But I think the book itself can stand alone. adding more story or putting up a sequel would be unnecessary, it will ruin the story.

message 38: by Mia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mia R Honestly, I don't think I'd want to read a sequel. The ending of the book was just so perfectly done that a sequel would take away from that. A second book just wouldn't match up to it, it's a natural stand-alone.

Fatin I don't want a sequel because the ending was just...perfect. BUT, ahh, somebody tell Chbosky to write another book already!

Taryn Fahad wrote: "A sequel sounds like a terrible idea what's wrong with you people?! It ended in a great place... what's left to talk about?"

Agreed. I think that Chbosky did a great job with the first endeavor, leaving nothing undone. I would hope that if he does make the decision to do a sequel that it would for substance. I would hate to see a sequel for simply a sequel's sake, then would sully or lessen the original which is superb on it's own.

Meera Hi, I'm Stephen Chbosky's assistant, Meera. He really appreciates and is truly honored to have you read and discuss his book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The movie version of Perks, which Stephen also wrote, is being released nationwide in the US today, October 12th! To find showtimes/theaters near you, visit http://www.facebook.com/WallflowerMov...

Thank you so much for all the support, it really means a lot to Steve. We hope you love the movie as much as we do!

message 42: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy I especially would if we found out who he was writing to, that'd be nice. He's a lovely character that I'd read more about...

Mikela i would read the sequel. But I think this is one of those books that doesn't need a sequel. It's just perfect alone.

message 44: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy I agree that it could be a stand-alone also but hey... More books?!

Sylvia Not a chance. I barely made it through the first book.

Graciella Bella Fahad wrote: "A sequel sounds like a terrible idea what's wrong with you people?! It ended in a great place... what's left to talk about?"
you're rude i don't like you very much

message 47: by Graciella (new) - added it

Graciella Bella i would love for stephen to write a sequel to perks and talk about charlie's college life or something like that. the perks book breaks my heart, especially the movie. it's literally the best movie/book i've ever seen.

Nettie yes i would see a sequel, but personally i dont think that this book/movie needs a sequel.

message 49: by Suge (new) - rated it 5 stars

Suge I think that a sequel would ruin the beauty of the first book. At the same time, it would be interesting to take a sneak peak and see how he progressed after that incident and how he's doing as an adult but I'd rather not have a sequel.

message 50: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Companion novels based in the same place but with Charlie as a background character... Imagine that.

EEE- I have a thing with companion novellllls!
