After reading chapter 12, how do you feel about salt and sugar?

Susan | 19 comments It was reassuring to learn that salt and sugar are not off limits. I think that just by virtue of avoiding processed food we consume far less salt and sugar present in the typical American diet.

February (thefebruary) I agree with Susan's comment! I think that with the avoidance of processed foods, we can certainly enjoy sugar and salt in moderation. They're not the enemy... unless, like anything else, you enjoy them in over-abundance.

Roxanne V (RoxanneV) | 15 comments I thought that sugar and salt was bad for you. But I had to re-think why I thought this. If you cook food with salt then put salt on the food after, this is where the problem lies. If you sprinkle the salt on the food after it's cooked, not dump the whole thing in, then it brings out the flavor better. Same with sugar, sprinkle some in oatmeal, but not eat sugar donuts for breakfast, then it's fine. I learned a lot from chapter 12!
