Joy Findlay | 21 comments Hi there, I have about 30 children's ebooks that I would like to add to GoodReads but I didn't know what the best way to do this was. I don't have ISBN numbers for these books but I do have Amazon ASIN numbers. Can you please advise how I may go about getting them added to the GoodReads shelves please?
My guess is that I have to list each book:
* Title
* Author Name
* ASIN
* Publisher
* Publication date
* Format
* Description
* Link to my personal website for the cover.

So you would need this 30 times over? I do not have ISBN numbers for these books yet. Thanks. Joy

Amara Tanith (aftanith) ASINs are Amazon's equivalent of ISBN. If you have the ASIN, you don't need to both looking for a corresponding ISBN unless you really want to. For the Goodreads system, we attach ASINs to Kindle editions alone and ISBNs to non-Kindle ebooks and physical books.

If you don't want to try to add the books to the database yourself (non-librarians can add books, just not edit them), you can start listing them here in the format you referenced above, and I or someone else will get to them. :)

Joy Findlay | 21 comments Hi there Amara, thank you for your quick reply. How do I add the books to the database myself please? I saw a manual upload but it was asking for ISBN numbers. Can I use this but add ASIN numers instead? Thanks, Joy

Amara Tanith (aftanith) On the manual upload page, beside where there are the two ISBN input fields, there is a link that reads "click for ASIN". Click that, and you'll be able to input ASINs instead. :)
