To be honest, I can't remember just what it was that I didn't like about it, but I only gave it 3 stars and most of her stuff is usually at least 4 stars for me, if not 5.

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 191 comments Managed to remember the Bubbles--so far so good! Thanks for the rec. I'll be checking out some of the others on this list that I haven't read as I get time. I did finally get in a bunch of ILLs so I'm back to having a nice little stack. Whew. I hate to be without at least 10 books to read!

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments I know sometimes it is good just to read for readings sake, if that makes sense. I am reading the picture of dorian gray. It is creepily engrossing.

Joyce (joyce39) | 21 comments Lisa Scottoline's Dirty Blonde Dirty Blonde is a not-quite-cozy that has plenty of funny lines, though the story line is fairly serious. It's some of the dialogue and the main character's thoughts that had me laughing.

MARIA......Have you tried "Buying Time" by Kelly Cochran yet?
It is a good book, but the best thing about it to me, was that it made me laugh all the way through it without the characters being outrageous. I thought it was a fun read. There is a trailer out for it that is really neat...you ought to watch it. There is a link for it on my profile page DonnaCarol. If you can't find it let me know...not sure if I am allowed to put that on here?

Hey Donna, I added the Kelly Cochran to my "look at" list. I haven't heard of it. I promise you, I don't want to watch the trailer. I despise them and it might turn me away from the book, but I'll definitely check the book out. Thanks for the rec!!!

Margaret | 4 comments If you want to laugh throughout a book I can recommend two series. First read Ann George Southern Sisters books an Mary Daheim Bed and Breakfast. Series. I never stopped laughing.

Yup, I've read Anne George. I've heard of the Mary Daheim ones...and I think she has a paranormal series on my TBR too, but I haven't read the B&B ones yet!

I have (and have read) ALL of the Anne George Sisters series.I laughed my way through all eight. I was SO sad when I learned that she had passed away.
I also have some of the Mary Daheim B&B books and really liked those too. I stopped reading 5 years ago & just started back, so I have 5 years of her books to catch up on. I'm glad you reminded me of how funny they were. I always enjoyed them.Nutty as a Fruitcake Nutty as a Fruitcake (Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries #10) by Mary Daheim

Well, the trailer does not show the humor of the book, thats for sure.So anyone that sees the trailer, remember....the book is very witty with some laugh out loud. Buying Time (An Aspen Moore Novel, #1) by Kelly Cochran

It just came out in April. First in a series also.

Barb For those who enjoy Daheim's B&B series, you might want to check out Maddy Hunter's Passport to Peril series. The first is Alpine for You.

Added it to my list. Thanks Barb.

Mary (Biblophile) | 4611 comments Deb Baker's Gertie Johnson series is a hoot. That woman can get in trouble by blinking.

Lorena McCourtney writes An Ivy Malone series that has some funny moments. This might be considered Christian fiction, but it's not preachy. Features a senior citizen with a penchant for getting into trouble.

Thanks I tried The Buying Time. Not a bad read, a little rushed at the end. Really liked the characters.

Biblophile, I have one of Deb's on my Kindle, I think. I don't remember the name so I don't know if it is that series.

Thanks!

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 191 comments I just finished reading the first in the Calamity Jane mystery series. I almost didn't make it through the first half--it was a little over the top with the stupid things she did. Well, actually it was a lot over the top. But the characters were compelling and the plot good--by the end I enjoyed it and I did laugh twice so it fit the bill.

I also read Driving Mr. Dead. I reviewed that one on the blog. Cuuuuute. It turned out to really be a romance rather than much of a mystery at all (only one little minor "unknown") But it was funny and cute.

I just finished reading Choke by Kaye George (Choke). It has a crazy cast of characters, a lot of laughs, and a plot that keeps you guessing. (Well written, too.)
