@Sruti Welcome to Trivandrum!
The first place to look for books in Trivandrum is Statue, where you can find DC Books, TBS, NBS, Chintha, Olive and more. It all comes in the Karimpanal Arcade, Statue-Gen.Hospital Road. A Google Map of bookstores in Statue is here - https://goo.gl/TH4Mrz
You can get a life-long membership in the Trivandrum Public Library (India's first library, estd.1829 - https://goo.gl/maps/yJLkvBRtr3p) for a nominal amount of Rs.400 and borrow up to 5 books at a time.
The library has a total collection of 367243 titles, subscribes 27 dailies and 215 journals including foreign journals. (Source: http://www.statelibrary.kerala.gov.in...)
If you like to look for some pre-owned books (English/Malayalam/Any) at a lower price, then you can find a huge collection of used books just outside the Public Library, along the road to Nandavanam Police Camp. It's a destination for book lovers.
Note: Every year, DC Books and Mathrubhumi Books conduct Book Fests in Trivandrum, mostly at V.J.T Hall (https://goo.gl/maps/ggAD34reYEv) or Kanaka Kunnu Palace (https://goo.gl/maps/ZP2uMFNbj7p) exhibiting thousands of titles from various publishers across the globe. Watch for it in Newspapers / FM Radios.
Happy Reading!
