Paul Salter | 40 comments Hi,
Never created a topic in here so hope this is in the correct place

Tempted to get the Odd Interlude books (2 currently out, last one released on Monday)

Has anyone got these/read them yet and are they good?

Tracy | 528 comments I got the first one but have yet to read it. Hope to do that today. I will let you know.

message 3: by Paul (new)

Paul Salter | 40 comments Thanks

For the price can't really go wrong (hopefully there is at least an hours reading)

Tracy | 528 comments I think there are about 60 pages, think I saw that on his site and by the time you buy them all it's as much as a paperback. Not sure why he didn't want to put it out that way. Anyway, if you don't like the first one you aren't out that much.

message 5: by Paul (new)

Paul Salter | 40 comments Cheers

Think I will get the first tomorrow for a bit of coffee break reading

just under £3 here for the 3 books (99p each) so not too bad for almost 200 pages

message 6: by Paul (new)

Paul Salter | 40 comments just finished the first one, was a very good read, about an hour to get through it, looking forward to the next 2 books

Tracy | 528 comments I just finished the first one as well. Now I am getting the second.

I haven't looked into Odd Interlude because they are e-books but I might just need to consider reading these :-)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
btw - Thanks for starting the discussion thread Paul. I'm glad I didn't have to do it :-)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
I guess I have some catching up to do.

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
Perfect!

message 12: by Paul (new)

Paul Salter | 40 comments just picked up the last part, be nice to see how this ends, hopefully read it later today.
then ready for the group read of the book before this one (it's a re read so not reading totally out of sequence)

message 13: by Paul (new)

Paul Salter | 40 comments Just finished it, recommend it to anyone who like the Odd Thomas books

Tracy | 528 comments OK DC, you are going to have to suck it up and get Interlude. Its very good and I can't see you missing out on it.

Ok Ok Ok I must I must I must I will I will I will

message 16: by Syd (new)

Syd Perry (sydperry) | 37 comments I just ordered 1, 2 and 3 today. On Amazon's site, a reviewer recommended waiting until all three books were out before ordering because waiting for the next one is torture. I'm really looking forward to some more Odd Thomas.

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments I'll have to get to these eventually. I was hoping to read them before Odd Apocalypse (OA), but that doesn't look like it will happen at this point. I hope it won't diminish my enjoyment of them to read them after OA.

message 18: by Suey (new)

Suey (suey_docos) | 48 comments Yeah - they're great! And NOT too short - especially when you read them all. Jason - it's definitely an "interlude", so won't make a difference if you read them pre-OA or post-OA!!!!

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Suey wrote: "...Jason - it's definitely an "interlude", so won't make a difference if you read them pre-OA or post-OA!!!!"

I'm glad to hear it, thanks!

Emily Ownby (emilyownby) | 5 comments I adored these short stories and would recommend them to anyone who has enjoyed Odd's journey thus far.

Tracy | 528 comments I just finished #3 and I can see how this could move right along into Odd Apocalypse. I loved this story.

So now that I am done with Interlude and have reread Hours what am I suppose to do? I suppose I could reread the whole series or reread Relentless. It isn't an Odd book but I like to reread it ever year. It's my favorite.

message 22: by Jim (new)

Jim C (avsfaninboston) | 161 comments Starting these tonight. Wasn't going to get them but since people enjoyed them, why not. They seem like a quick read.

message 23: by Robert (new)

Robert Williamson (rdwilliamson) | 18 comments Starting these tonight. Want to get caught up on Odd before the next book and the group read.

message 24: by Jim (new)

Jim C (avsfaninboston) | 161 comments In Interlude 2, there was a quick reference "There is someone else". I don't know if I had my inner geek going, but all I could think of was Obi-Wan talking to Yoda about Leia.

Tracy | 528 comments I have started rereading Odd and currently on Forever Odd. I can hardly wait for Odd Apocalypse. I'm getting myself in the zone.

message 26: by Syd (new)

Syd Perry (sydperry) | 37 comments I just finished Book 1 of Odd Interlude. I was surprised when Book 2 started with chapter 8. It really is one book sold in three parts. And no one mentioned (or did I miss it?) that chapter one of Odd Apocalypse is offered at the end of book 1. Maybe at the end of all the books? Or do we get 3 free chapters?

message 27: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 246 comments I think that was mentioned in a different thread before this one was started.

Odd Interlude will be featured as a Mini Group Read beginning March 15th. I'm excited to read this :-)

Jen (reader44ever) | 283 comments I won't be joining you all for this one, I don't think. I haven't yet read any of the Odd Thomas books and probably won't get time to get to them in time to participate in this mini group read. Someday. :)

Loved Odd Interlude! Think you will really like it DC.

I plan to read it after The Voice of the Night :-)

Jen, I think you would get more out of Odd Interlude if you read the other books first (except of Odd Appocalypse which comes after the Interlude books.

I am reading Odd Interlude now. I didn't know Harry Potter was in this book! :-)

Wow, really? Everything I've heard about the Odd books makes me want to read them...I just have so many books I want to read right now and not enough "right now" time to read them in. It's a conundrum. :)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments One of the things that may be causing some confusion for people is that Odd Interlude was originally released in three short "novellas". That's what I have ... the three Odd Interlude sections. If you get Odd Interlude now, it just comes as one book. You can read all of the other Odd books without Odd Interlude and not lose the flow of what's happening but the Odd Interlude fits right in between Odd Hours and Odd Apocalypse. It's in Odd Interlude that we see a connection to Wyvern (from the Chris Snow books)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
I am loving this book :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Also I just realized that if anyone else did as I did and got the three separate Kindle e-books there is an update of each available. Go to your Kindle Library
(Manage Your Kindle), look for each title and you will see "Update Available" and click on the Update deliver. I just learned this yesterday. Apparently there is a menu on the left where you can click and it will show you all of the updates available on any Kindle books you purchased.

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
I love my paperback and my audiobook too :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Well I haven't checked yet, but I know when I got them in the summer, each of the Odd Interlude books had the beginning of Odd Apocalypse. I am kind of hoping that the "update" was to give us a taste of the next in the series.
I haven't had a chance to get into my Kindle today because it was my daughter's birthday. She called at the last minute and asked if she could see us even though we were planning to celebrate on Monday. Her boyfriend was taking her to her favorite place to eat in our city and she wanted to see us on her actual birthday. It turned out that he proposed to her this morning and that is why it was so important to see us today!
(I know it doesn't have a thing to do with Koontz but I am just bursting to tell people and can't tell anyone I know until they put it on facebook!)

Odd Interlude was a blast! Reminiscent of Demon Seed and of course with Wyvern there was the Chris Snow connection.

The humor was right on :-)

"Jolie Ann Harmony, you are sarcastic. You are a wise-ass child."

I am feeling a huge need to read these Odd Thomas books. Could we organize a series read for them?

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 6121 comments Mod
Of course :-) You haven't read any of the Odd Thomas books yet?

message 47: by Jen (new) - added it

Jen (reader44ever) | 283 comments Nope. I'm a bad Koontz fan, I know. :( Can I please stay in the group? I'll get better, I promise. ;)

Koontz fans of all varieties are welcome here :-) You can stay (but we'll have to get you reading some Odd Thomas if you want to be a die-hard Koontz fan)

message 49: by Jen (new) - added it

Jen (reader44ever) | 283 comments Thanks, Dustin. :-) I will read the Odd Thomas books someday...and hopefully a "soon" someday, lol. ;-) It's the conundrum of my life: too many books, too little time...

Once I do read them, I'll be sure to visit the discussions that center around Odd Thomas. :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Hey Jen, if they let ME stay they will probably love having you! I consider Koontz one of my all time favorite authors yet there are books I read and didn't like (usually the ones first published under another name) and we are all different. I happen to love the golden retriever books and a lot of fans don't.
