Would any of you like to do a group read/discussion? I thought we could read The Numbers Behind NUMB3RS: Solving Crime with Mathematics by Keith J. Devlin. What do you think?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds fun. The book seems cool.

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments oOOH that looks cool!

How long do you think it will take you guys to get it from the library? They don't have it in my system so it might take me a little bit to get it. Maybe we could read it February/March?

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I Just placed it on hold! YAY!!!!!

Great! How long do you think it will take? I'm going to go request mine right now! =D

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments It's not in my system, I don't think. :(

It's not in my system either, but I requested it via interlibrary loan. Do you have access to anything like that?

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments Yes, but I hadn't tried that yet! I'll go do that!

Yay! How long do you suspect it will take?

message 13: by Squiggles{Kelly} (new)

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments Probably at most....2 weeks. More like 5 days.

Elaine (caladhiel) | 108 comments Mod
Really?! Your system is fast! I'm hoping to get mine by February.

message 15: by Squiggles{Kelly} (new)

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments Yeah, it generally is. It depends on which library it's coming from.

message 16: by Leiko (new)

Leiko Xantara (arrogant_protector) Cryptid didn't put it on hold.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I got mine about a week ago, but I'v been to busy to read much of it!

message 23: by Squiggles{Kelly} (new)

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments Oh! Mine is available!! So I'll prolly get it on Tuesday. :D

Elaine (caladhiel) | 108 comments Mod
Cool! =D February 1st today, so we can officially start reading it (though I'm already in Chapter 2). Do you think we should just have an open discussion about everything or different threads for each (or maybe 2 at a time) chapter, so that you can discuss about what you've read and not get any spoilers (not that this is really a spoiler book, but...)? What are your thoughts?

message 25: by Squiggles{Kelly} (new)

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments Well, idk what the set up of the book is...but if each chapter is a different topic, then maybe different threads would be a good idea.

message 26: by Elaine, Approximately Normal. (new)

Elaine (caladhiel) | 108 comments Mod
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that each chapter is a different show/mathematical concept, so I think we'll try different threads for now and see how it goes. :)

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

jUST Finished it!

Elaine (caladhiel) | 108 comments Mod
Wow! You're a fast reader! I'm still in Chapter 2 (haven't really been reading it much, obviously). Why don't we start discussing chapter 1 in that thread?

message 29: by Squiggles{Kelly} (new)

Squiggles{Kelly} (squiggles) | 43 comments I haz read itttt I liked it alot! Expesially the game plan part...I've been wanting to see A Beautiful Mind for a while and now i really want to...:D

Okay, I've really got to get around to reading it! I finished Breaking Dawn so now maybe I can focus on Numb3rs a little more. =P

I've seen A Beautiful Mind! I thought it was good! I really want to read the book! Maybe for the next group read? :)

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds good.

message 32: by Miss Clark (new)

Miss Clark (miss_clark) | 27 comments Finished second week of Feb., though I did only skim the chapter of fingerprinting.

Ugh! My copy wouldn't let me renew it because it was through an interlibrary loan! I had to return it because it was overdue. :( I requested another copy that I hope will get here soon!

message 34: by Miss Clark (new)

Miss Clark (miss_clark) | 27 comments I was lucky because my library owned it.

Elaine (caladhiel) | 108 comments Mod
=P Well, I decided to finally just return the books as it was quite overdue. I only had a small fine, so that was a relief. I guess I'll just have to check it out again when I have more reading time.
