Would it help visibility and participation if we moved the contest from the author zone to somewhere else? in case non authors aren't entering because they think it is just for authors?

Yea, but just thinking more for the votes than the entries. I think we had a good number of entries if we had many more it would take forever to read them all

The max word count could be reduced to 150, though I'd not like to see it reduced below that.
