Thanks for the great picks! I've reserved three of the books from the library, it looks like I can get Finding Perfect right away; I also tried for 50 Shades and Somebody to love. We'll see on those; I often just get to one book from the PIFM challenge...I'll let you know. Thanks again!

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Hi JoJo Here are your July picks. I hope you find something that you will enjoy,

1. Blockbuster Hit - A Discovery of Witches I waited until this was recommended for me to read and it was a good one. Last year it seemed like everyone was reading it.

2. Tearjerker - Message in a Bottle I absolutely loved this book. I am not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks but I recommend this often because it was so good.

3. Independent Film - Bubba and the Missing Woman by C.L. Bevill. This is an author that is not well known but it seems you have been enjoying their writing. as I have a couple of them I have to check them out.

4. Enduring Classic - A is for AlibiIs the start of a long string of bit hits for Sue Grafton. Time to start it. I know I just started it and really liked it.

5. Sequels, Sequels - Dead Case in Deadwood I noticed you really liked the first two in this series. It sounded so good that I added it to my growing TBR list.

6. On the Edge of Your SeatKiss of Darkness I noticed you love Heather
Graham as much as I do so I had to work one into this list. OR if you want something a bit scarier Midnight Voices I found I could not read it late at night but it was really good.

Buddy Reads:
7. Summer Hit - Trouble in Mudbug I have been wanting to read this for a while. I was told it was a light fun read and that the sequels are just as good.

8. New Release - No MercyIt is probably about a year old but I noticed you have read almost all the other Dark Hunter series. I can't read this with you yet but don't let that stop you from devouring it.

Please Note: Buddy Read selections are not optional! If you are unable to participate, you still need to make the picks. Just let your pickee know that you will not be able to read with them in advance. Bubba and the Missing Woman by C.L. Bevill Dead Case in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery, #3) by Ann Charles Trouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #1) by Jana Deleon Kiss of Darkness by Heather Graham A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19; Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks Midnight Voices by John Saul A is for Alibi (Kinsey Millhone, #1) by Sue Grafton

Lady Allison | 118 comments Hey, Macwolf01 [Elise] hope it isn't too HOT where you are today! Here are my recs, hope you find something you enjoy, just let me know if you need me to repick :)

Blockbuster Hit - The Help by Kathryn Stockett was a slow start but completely worth it - I HIGHLY recommend listening to it on audio if you're willing, it really brings the story alive!

Tearjerker - The Vow: The True Events that Inspired the Movie is the true story that the movie was based on & sounds like a pretty emotional read!

Independent Film - I've heard nothing but good things about Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton

Enduring Classic - One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of the oldest books on your TBR & a classic as well!

Sequels, Sequels - Looks like you skipped right to the meat of the series with Acheron, but start from the beginning of the Dark Hunters!!! Not only will they make a lot more sense if read in order, it's a lot more satisfying to read it the way SK meant us to! The first book is Night Pleasures but I personally think Fantasy Lover is a better place to start.

On the Edge of Your Seat - I don't know if you've read these series or just a few, but either way Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare & The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann are some of my favorite romantic suspense ever.

Buddy Reads:

Summer Hit - Let's try a new author together! How about Jill Shalvis' Simply Irresistible or Animal Magnetism?

New Release - How about Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter or A Night Like This by Julia Quinn?

The Help by Kathryn Stockett The Vow The True Events that Inspired the Movie by Kim Carpenter Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis Animal Magnetism (Animal Magnetism, #1) by Jill Shalvis Wicked Nights (Angels of the Dark, #1) by Gena Showalter A Night Like This (Smythe-Smith Quartet, #2) by Julia Quinn

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tania, thanks for the great recs this month!!! I don't think I'm ready to hop on the Shades of Grey train yet, but if you enjoy BDSM, you should really check out the Slave Breakers, start with Bran's Story - you'll fall in love with these characters. I'll go with Naked In Death for my read this month & I'd love to read The Care & Feeding of Stray Vampires with you! I read absolutely everything Molly Harper puts out - she & Katie MacAlister are my favorite humor authors!

Tiffanny Lexa

I really enjoyed looking at your list of books. I've read a lot of the books that you're itching to read, and most of them were all really good! So, from your list I hope that you find at least one book that you'd like to read for the month of July =)

1.Blockbuster Hit - Riding the Storm, Pleasure Unbound, Long Hard Ride: I LOVE LOVE LOVE Larissa Ione. She also writes with another author and their pen name is Sydney Croft, both book series are paranormal. At first I wasn't sure about either series, and after reading the first few books I flew through the series. Long Hard Ride is the first of 11 in a series about a cowboy family, these books have some pretty smoking scenes in them. It's easy to get sucked into them.

2.Tearjerker - The Pact, Nineteen Minutes, The Choice: All three of these books are definate tearjerkers. The Pact was really really good, but I cried for a good solid 2 weeks. My husband didn't know what to do with me, lol.

3.Independent Film - Before I Fall, The Peach Keeper, Garden Spells: All three of these books are really good. Lauren Oliver is a great writer. Her books never end how you suspect though which makes them so much more interesting. I like Sarah Addison Allen's books because there's always a mystical feeling to them and there's a really light feeling as well.

4.Enduring Classic - Wintergirls: I feel this book along with Speak should be read by every girl in middle or high school.

5.Sequels, Sequels - The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf, Fifty Shades Darker, No Place to Run: Three very different sequels, but all pretty good. The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf is as funny as the first one.

6.On the Edge of Your Seat… - The Memory Keeper's Daughter, Fragile By Shiloh Walker, and Broken By Shiloh Walker: All good books.

7.Summer Hit - Corralled: A Blacktop Cowboys Novel: Has been on to read self for a while

8.New Release - Laid Bare or Giving Chase: I've read the Chase series and really really liked them. I haven't read the Brown sibling series yet even though I really want to.

Gigi | 1149 comments Sue

Sorry for the delay. I hope you find something that you'll like. If not, I'll be happy to pick again.

1. Blockbuster Hit - The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst
This book looks really good and 12 weeks on the NYT best sellers list.

2. Tearjerker - The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
The ending practically had my in tears. Very emotional read!

3. Independent Film - Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Self published and appears to be a really good book.

4. Enduring Classic - Dune by Frank Herbert

5. Sequels, Sequels - Vengeance in Death by J.D. Robb

6. On the Edge of Your Seat… Raziel by Kristina Douglas
Sounds intense and scary to me!

Buddy Reads:
Please be sure at least one of your picks is on your pickee’s TBR.

7. Summer Hit - I'm In No Mood For Love or Faking It or Desire

8. New Release - Bared to You by Sylvia Day or Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Heard a lot about both books.

Happy reading!!

message 275: by Iris (new)

Iris (ipro) | 277 comments Hi KarenF, I finally got it done. Sorry it took so long. I blame the pool. It was too tempting just sitting there calling to me. lol

1. Blockbuster Hit: I haven't actually read either one of these yet, yeah, I know, what have I been doing, but both were a pretty big deal, so it was a sort of given when I realized you hadn't read them either.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James

2. Tearjerker:
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

3. Independant Film:
Sweet Magik by Penny Watson
Playing for Keeps by R.L. Mathewson

4. Enduring Classic: I noticed you had both of these on your TBR since 2010! I've read Christine Warren and think you'll love it. It's a great start to the series.
Wolf at the Door
Pride Mates

5. Sequels, Sequels
A Taste of Midnight I'm up to the same book in the series
How to Drive a Dragon Crazy

6. On the Edge of Your Seat…
Latte Trouble
Lullaby Town

Buddy Reads
7. Summer Hit -
Body Check

8. New Release -
Lothaire This was released in January, but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet and I noticed you have it on your TBR list as well.
West of Want This won't be released until the 10th, but after reading the first one I can't wait to read Laura Kaye's second installment

Hope this are ok. Let me know if you need me to repick any. I had a blast going through your list!

Awesome picks as always! So, I'm torn (I think this is a record) between 12+ titles
- Do Over
- Pleasure and Purpose
- Sleeping with the Devil
- Anyone But You
- Attachments (just purchased)
- Promises Linger
- Seven Exes Are Eight Too Many (just purchased)
- Arabian Pearl (just purchased)
- Yours Until Dawn
- Seven Minutes in Heaven
- Untouched
- Wanderlove

I don't think we've ever done a buddy read. So, lets read Wanderlove. You may need to give me a weeks head start because as I'm sure you know I suck at buddy reads lol. I may read Pleasure and Purpose also I think...so, torn! LOL

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Nici Books are like potato chips, you can't eat just one, so I ended up suggesting more than one pick per category. Though, I do recommend reading the books instead of eating them. :D

Blockbuster Hit
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo This book was so popular they made it into a movie. Twice! This is one I definitely want to read sometime.
Water for Elephants Another book that made it's way to the theaters and another that I want to read someday.
Tearjerker
The Book Thief and Looking for Alaska are both books I've read myself and had emotional responses to. Either one would be a great choice.
Independent Film
Plague Town One of my favorite finds of the year. I noticed you have a shelf named zombie, so I thought a book about an isolated college town with a quickly growing zombie problem would fit right in there.
The First Days More zombies! I've read good things about this series and am thrilled that it's been reprinted. I'm definitely going to read this sometime.
Enduring Classic
Rebecca A romantic classic good enough for Hitchcock. I must confess I haven't read the book, but I probably should.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Not on your shelves, but you might enjoy this classic from the horror genre.
Sequels, Sequels
Happy Ever After Nora Roberts is your most read author and you've read the first three of the Bride Quartet, so go ahead and finish it out with Parker's story.
Envy You've shelved a lot of J.R. Ward's series also.
Magic Burns You didn't rate Magic Bites, so I hesitated to recommend this. But the series just keeps getting better and better, so I went ahead and added it. Kate and Curran's relationship grows throughout the series.
On the Edge of Your Seat...
Mile 81 Stephen King's a favorite of mine, but I somehow missed this one. I'm going to have to track it down soon.
Warm Bodies Yet more zombies. I just recently heard about this book and added it to my TBR, so I haven't read it myself. I'm scared, but intrigued, to find out how a zombie romance works.
Unholy Ghosts Dark urban fantasy at it's best. I love this series.
Summer Hit
Breathers: A Zombie's Lament Zombies are everywhere. I had to add this to my TBR when I saw it on your shelf and would be up for a buddy read.
Black Night This book is on both of our TBR shelves.
New Release
Once Burned I've been wanting Vlad's story for quite while now. I'm even happier that there's going to be more than one book.
Tangle of Need I've been waiting for this book ever since Kiss of Snow came out.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Looking for Alaska by John Green Plague Town by Dana Fredsti The First Days (As The World Dies A Zombie Trilogy #1) by Rhiannon Frater Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson Happy Ever After (Bride Quartet, #4) by Nora Roberts Envy (The Fallen Angels, #3) by J.R. Ward Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Mile 81 by Stephen King Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane Breathers A Zombie's Lament by S.G. Browne Black Night (Black Wings, #2) by Christina Henry Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Tangle of Need (Psy-Changeling, #11) by Nalini Singh

Hi Joyce,

These are fantastic picks thanks - it might be quicker to say which I won't be reading.

I'm going to read Dead Case in Deadwoodfor another challenge so that's definitely in (the first 2 were kindle freebies but I'm quite happy to pay for the 3rd they were so good).

Bubba and the Missing Woman is from another series i started free on the kindle (they really hook me in) that I've been wanting to read.

Time wise there may be a choice betweeen Kiss of Darkness and Midnight Voicesbut I will definitely read at least 1 of them.

I'm really keen to read Trouble in Mudbug (and I already have it) so if you're up for the buddy read let me know.

Thanks

1. Blockbuster Hit - Fifty Shades of Grey

2. Tearjerker - If You Could See Me Now This is a fun read. It may have been the state of mind I was in at the time, but I could not stop crying at the end.

3. Independent Film - Poughkeepsie

4. Enduring Classic - Vampire Academy This book was on my TBR for a long time even though friends kept recommending it. When I finally read it I was kicking myself for not reading it sooner and I quickly devoured the rest of the series.

5. Sequels, Sequels - The Scorpio Races I see that you enjoyed the Shiver series. This is a fun stand-alone by the same author.

6. On the Edge of Your Seat… Matched

Buddy Reads:

7. Summer Hit - Flipped This is a quick, fun read.

8. New Release - Shatter Me

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. I added A Hidden Fire and will be reading that this month, it's also time I finally get to Ransom, so add that to the list as well. There's no way I'll let the month go by without reading Once Burned or Shadow of Night, I've been waiting a long time for both. I'm sorry you won't be able to join me with either one, but if you're interested in doing a buddy read of The Lost Duke of Wyndham, I'm very game.

Penney, I'm so excited about all your choices! I will say if you read "A Hidden Fire" you need to be prepared to read the next two. It's starts slow, then gets really good. But the next two are amazing, in my opinion. And you can't go wrong with Julie Garwood. She is one of my favorite authors.
I'm so sad that I won't be able to read either "Once Burned" or "Shadow of Night" this month. I loved "Discovery of Witches" and am really looking forward to the sequel.
I will be happy to do a buddy read of
The Lost Duke of Wyndham. Maybe towards the middle of the month? I have several books I have to read early in the month, then it frees up. Let me know and I will set up the thread. Happy Reading!

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Nikki, I am so sorry for the delay. I tried to forewarn that I was going to be travelling until late though. If you need a re-pick for anything, just ask and I'll do my best.

1. Blockbuster Hit - Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James - Fifty Shades of Grey you had to have seen this recommendation coming. I was in Mexico last week lounging by a pool for days on end. I think half the people I saw reading were reading this book (or one of the sequels). The same held true for all the time on airplanes and sitting in airports. This book is everywhere. The good news is that it is a quick read. The bad news is that I thought the hype far outstripped the reality. However, it is worth reading to find out what all the fuss is about.

2. Tearjerker - Cry No More by Linda Howard - Cry No More if you haven't read this do so. I don't know of anybody who read this without shedding a few tears (that includes this middle aged guy). I loved this book. Lots of others have loved it too. I feel strongly that you will as well.

3. Independent Film - I guess I don't know who the 'Big Six' are. Nor do I really know who is a new author or just 'new to me'. Jennifer Bernard had her first two books released this summer. There's a big sticker on the front cover saying something about 'great new author' or something like that. I'm hoping that qualifies. The best part is that you read the first book in the series and gave it five stars. I say continue with Hot for Fireman (The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel, #2) by Jennifer Bernard - Hot for Fireman.

4. Enduring Classic - This is a tough call. You have a lot of really good stuff sitting in your TBR. I'm not a YA fan but you should probably read Hunger Games trilogy at some point in time. Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy - Flat-Out Sexy was really fun for me. I'm not a race fan nor a car guy by any stretch but really liked the story. But if you are only going to read one, go with the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis. It starts with Simply Irresistible but get Christmas in Lucky Harbor Simply Irresistible/the Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis - Christmas in Lucky Harbor: Simply Irresistible/the Sweetest Thing as it is the first two books bundled into one and sold for the price of one.

5. Sequels, Sequels - You've read the first two books in the Lovett Texas series and given them five stars each. I just read the third this week. You should too. Rescue Me (Lovett, Texas, #3) by Rachel Gibson - Rescue Me

6. On the Edge of Your Seat… Tough category. I don't really know what you find suspenseful or scary. I notice that you have a lot of books that are somewhat classified as 'Romantic Suspense' but not a single Roxanne St.Claire. This must be remedied! The Bullet Catchers series is good and technically comes first, but the Guardian Angelinos is as good a place as any to start. Go with Edge of Sight (The Guardian Angelinos, #1) by Roxanne St. Claire - Edge of Sight. since you liked the Lori Foster - Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series, I can guarantee you will like this as well.

Buddy Reads:
Please be sure at least one of your picks is on your pickee’s TBR.

7. Summer Hit - light and funny? plenty to pick from let me see... YOU HAVE NO JENNIFER CRUSIE?! She is a master of the genre. Unfortunately I think I've read everything she has out. How about light fun PNR? I loved the Hex Appeal books by Vicki Lewis Thompson. She also wrote the Nerd series which was great! I have a couple of books in another series that I haven't tried yet that I'd be willing to give a swing with you. Blonde with a Wand (Babes on Brooms #1) by Vicki Lewis Thompson - Blonde with a Wand is book one and I see no reason why they also wouldn't be light and funny.

8. New Release - There are so many great authors I do not see on your TBR that I feel I would be doing you a disservice not to point them out to you. Yes, I know that means neither of the books I'm recommending in the buddy reads section is from your TBR. if it makes you feel any better, switch whatever with Hot for Fireman and I'll read that one with you. However, my most eagerly awaited book of the summer is due out on the 10th of this month. The Great Escape (Wynette, Texas, #7) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - The Great Escapeis unfortunately book seven in a series. But since you haven't read ANY Susan Elizabeth Phillips, I will suggest you pick up ANY of them. The first in the Texas series is Fancy Pants by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - Fancy Pants. You read the first and I'll read the seventh. Close enough for a buddy read?

Nikki, I know I sort of mangled the last two categories and if you want something different, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. But there are so many other authors you haven't read yet which you will love. Victoria Dahl has made your TBR but not read yet, Megan Hart, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Carly Phillips, Susan Donovan, Susan Mallery, and more! Thea Harrison is listed by not read. And no Molly Harper?! Each time I come up with another name I look and see another opportunity for you to find someone I know you will love! (OK, I'll stop now. But seriously, I'll just about guarantee any of the pics I've already made. But we all have different tastes. If you want something different, just let me know.)

Thanks for the pics, they look great! I am ALWAYS looking for new authors to try, its why I joined GR! I'll def read Hot for Fireman, its already on my kindle and waiting! So is Fifty shades, I was procrastinating with that one... As far as the buddy read goes, I'm game for whatever! They all look great!

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Nikki, I'm planning on reading Hot for Fireman too. I really enjoyed the first one and don't have any reason to think the next won't be just as good. Give me a few days. I started the next Susan Mallery this morning and the next Lucky Harbor is next. Then of course is the next SEP (Susan Elizabeth Phillips in case you didn't know - seriously, how have you not read her books?) I think those are the only three that I am absolutely committed to this month.
