I think it is interesting how WK is structured. It seems like segments of a tale and so far it really seems to be the tale of Derfel rather than Arthur (maybe what Dee was driving at with her earlier comment).
I dont know if you could say these are Derfel on quests, but he does goes on adventures that lead him to Galahad, to rediscover Merlin, to find Nimue, etc.
I think in this way Cornwell provides a different style of story. In other modern Arthurian novels, the story, setting, backdrop, events, etc. seem more continuous. I may not be expressing this clearly -- maybe you know what I mean though. Even Malory, with all its chapters and parts seems more continuous, and he didnt even mean them to be, did he?
