I can't change the Author Name

I Tried so many times since yesterday, to change the Author name of this book to (Mustafa Armağan) But it's not working !!! It says: Changes saved. But it's not!

I don't know what's the problem.

hmmm... I tried too, but it did not seem to work... perhaps it needs to be done from the author's page... will go explore.

ETA: Armagan (no diacritic) needs to be merged with Armağan (with diacritic), but I am not sure how to do that. Will let a more experienced librarian take care of it.

You simply click on the wrong author name and change it in his profile, after saving you get a prompt that asks if you want to merge it with the correct profile.


Authors merged, but some books need to be combined now me seems, and may need a change in title, but that is up to someone who knows which spelling is correct for the titles in question.

it may need time to update the server. In the case of bowker books in print the system takes the changes but does not show them until they are reviewed or if it is a less serious change it may not need to be reviewed by the tech staff but it needs to go through a cycle to update the server and the changes are published to the web.

I am not saying this is the case with Goodreads. I am only saying that a similar problem can occur in Bowker - and from what I understand talking to them- this is what seems to be going when the information doesn't immediately register on my pages when it refreshes. Sometimes system wide changes take longer. Maybe it is a similar problem here. Seems like the techies could give you ana automatic message like 'changes being reviewed' or 'changes will be incorporated in 48 hours'.

The problem here is/was that if you input something with non-English characters (Armağan for instance), it will default to the English characters if the name is already in the system that way. If it's not already in the system with English characters, it will accept the non-English characters properly.
