found it accidentally in my town's library, while searching for other novels: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...
I am trying to find this book I read in 2000's. It's about a man who comes to a (I think) 1900's London to work as an pathologist assistant. That pathologist has a blind daughter and is trying to cure her by all means, eventually by transfusing lamb blood to her. The assistant falls in love with that daughter and starts helping his professor in making the cure. It also has something to do with prison, murderers and gonorrhea.
