I am not sure. Is it the sword glowing? The source of the light needs to be in the picture.

Same with the house if it is glowing yes.

The item can be anywhere in the book not just on the cover.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 675 comments I've decided I'll read A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis for source of light book.

To me the sword is glowing...that is that some power or energy within the sword is creating or producing the light.

No, you can do it in what ever order you wish. But you have to read the book for the item which is picked on Sunday after it is picked and not have read it before that date.

Katya For Week #4's Item Source of Light I chose:
Southern Comfort (Compass Brothers, #2) by Mari Carr Southern Comfort by Mari Carr & Jayne Rylon
Date Started: 7/22/12
Date Completed: 7/22/12
Four Stars!
Loved this story. I really like this series and the characters in it. The four Compass Brothers. This is book 2 but I read it last. It is not the hottest of the four but the romance is the sweetest. Jody has had a crush on Seth since she was 12. He has held her at arms length and promised her father to leave her alone until she finishes college. She finally comes home after college and surprise...she is engaged to be married...to Paul. Seth is determined to make her his. What's a man to do? (view spoiler) and show her how much he loves her. Really good story and love the back story of the Compass family with what they are all dealing with. Fun, enjoyable read!

My Main Point for the Item of the Week is:
Source of Light - (Pg. 219) "He'd studied every nook and cranny of her throughout the night, the light of the moon casting a romantic hue on the bed as he made love to her time and time again."

My Three Other Items for Points are:
Hat - Cowboy on the cover is sporting it.
Holiday aka Vacation - (Pg.7) "It wasn't a hunting trip of the beginning of a summer vacation...." or "Christmas" (Pg.55) "His words rankled and reminded her of Christmas break."
Tattoo - (Pg.216) "Jody smiled when she noticed Seth's gaze on her face....She'd been lying on her side since waking up, studying the tattoo on his back as he slept peacefully on his stomach."

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 675 comments Currently, I've completed 27% of Dearly, Departed It's keeping my interest enough to want to know what's going to happen next. If I didn't had to work in a hour and half, I would read this book til my heart's content. It's only a four hour shift so I'll be home around 8p.m. so I can read more tonight then. I'm sorry I'm behind in this, but I'm planning on catching up this week if all goes well for me.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 1882 comments Week 4: Source of Light: (Moon on the Cover)
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
Finished: 7/23/12
Rating 3.75 stars
Review:
I was a bit conflicted on this one. Elena is the only female werewolf and decided that she wanted to live in the human world away from the pack. She had a nice boyfriend and a regular job. It all came crashing down when the pack leader called her for help with some murders committed by an unknown wolf. The wall between the two worlds began to crumble. It took Elena a good deal of time to process what happened to her, and make a decision on how she wanted to live her life. I will give her credit for making her own decision and not letting anyone make it for her. It just that her stubbornness was a little frustrating, coupled with the fact that she was being unfair to two men.
It was good writing, but it isn’t a book that I would read over and over again. Also, there wasn’t a single scene that had to go and read over again. It was a good start to the series. I will read Book 2 in the future.

I didn’t get the page numbers since the book is on my kindle, but this is where they were in percentage.
Moon: “the need is roughly lunar based, though it has little to do with the full moon..”(20%)
Holiday: “I was looking forward to burnt gingerbread. Another great holiday tradition lost.” (30%)
Silhouette: “When I turned, I could see his silhouette, but he didn’t pull the canopy back.” (49%)
Shoe: “His shoe hit the blood and his ankle twisted, shooting out from under him. “ (34%)

Did you read Stolen? I read a review that said that Bitten was meant to be a standalone, but when it was so successful, the author built upon that success. I don't know if that is true, but if it is...
She is milking it for all it's worth (LOL).
There are like 11 books now.

Anyway, I don't feel the need to go on with the series, right now. There are so many other books that I am excited about---like Gunmetal Magic. So Women of the Otherworld is going back on the TBR pile

One book per item called. If you missed a week then you can make it up any time. But you can't read a second book for source of light just to get the extra points.

I struggled with that book too.

Katya It is soooooooooo important as this goes on that everyone stay on top of the week's item and read asap....because it is possible for a team to win any time now....so that means go for the most points and catch up if you are behind. ANd Ezinwanyi...you are right...that team is beating everyone....But we can be in the race if we are staying on our toes.

Katya Amy, I see you completed the book Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3) by C.C. Hunter on July 19th and gave it five stars. Not sure when you started this book (says in July) but did you know this book might count towards this challenge?

I found the following items in this:

Graveyard (Pg. 147) "She hated having to lie, but she hoped the offer of space would alleviate the hardship of their having to accompany her to the graveyard."
Source of Light (Fireworks) (pg. 189) "She didn't look away until the sparkles started popping off like fireworks."
Tree (Pg. 157) "She glanced over at Perry, who sat on a tree limb, swatting a butterfly."
Reflection or Mirror (Pg. 254) "The image of him appearing in her dreams, and of him staring at her in the mirror with blood dripping down his chin, filled her head."
Water (Pg. 71) "Suddenly the sound of water trickling nearby filled her senses."
Knife (Pg. 242) "The man looked at the woman sitting beside him, 'Get me a knife.'"

I am sure there are others...If you write a little review and pick what items you wish to use here is a book completed.

you are so right Katya. I have been lurking in Team 3's threads and they are whipping out their books fast. Not just that, they are co-ordinating items.
I think you had tried to get us to do that in the beginning because I remember someone encouraging us to get the hard stuff first (like uniform, hat) since nude is so easy to find in PNR books.

@Amy, please let us know what we can do to help you. I know you are also doing another challenge, but if there is anything you need from us, please say so. If you need book recommendations with stuff, we can look through your TBR pile when the item of the week is announced and recommend books to you.
If you are interested in a book but don't have it. Let me know and I will see if I can lend it via Kindle.

We can do this!

@CaroB: where are you?

Check out my post #376
:-)

Since July your page states you have read:
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters, #1) by Jessica Shirvington Dreamless (Starcrossed, #2) by Josephine Angelini Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3) by C.C. Hunter Shine (Shade, #3) by Jeri Smith-Ready

I was able to look through Taken at Dusk because I have that book and found lots of items you could have used. Are you sure that none of these other books did not have items you can use in this challenge? I wish I had those books, I would check them for you. I am tempted to buy them to find out.

Well I do have Grave Mercy but that was read in the beginning of the month and you already used a book for Bridge. It is a shame because it had a bridge in it and would have counted that week and the book you used for Bridge could have counted for another week. - HUGE missed opportunity.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers
Bridge - (pg. 82) "I am still wrestling with the Runnion matter when Duval steers us across a thick stone Bridge."

So please check in often and ask for help or encouragement or whatever that will enable you to bring your A-game.

Lina REVIEW:
Team Challenge-Scavenger Hunt R2>
Team 2: Vicious Vixens

Item: #3 - GRAVEYARD
The Temptation of the Night Jasmine (Pink Carnation, #5) by Lauren Willig
Book: The Temptation of the Night Jasmine
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 22-Jul-12
Review: As this is a continuation of the Pink Carnation series, there was a certain comfort of a familiar set-up and writing style, and a continuation of the contemporary storyline. The historical aspect was sweet and funny, with miscommunication between the H and h being the common themes between the timelines, though this had a more macabre twist than the previous books in the series. A comfortably enjoyable read if not necessarily mind-blowing.
*Graveyard - “Even the stones in the graveyard could not be bothered to stand up straight; they tilted dispiritedly to one side, worn by time and pocked with snow.”
Other Items:
*HOLIDAY -“Like the rest of these louts, I am passing the holiday season on your largesse.”
*HAT - “And one of those big, conical hats,” suggested Charlotte, tilting her head in a way that he remembered from all those years ago. “I believe those are de rigueur for unicorn-hunting maidens.”
*MYTHICAL CREATURE - ”“Do you still believe in unicorns?” Charlotte’s cheeks flared with color. “I can’t believe you remember that after all these years!” He hadn’t, until now. “How could I forget? It’s not everyone who goes unicorn hunting with a plate of jam tarts.”

Hi Laura!"

It does hurt the team, but only slightly. There is nothing to be done about it. I think every team has had it happen.

You used light in week two as one of your four points claimed. Since you had to use it again in week 4 it basicly nulls out the point from week 2. So you only got 3 points instead of the 4. It kind of makes it to be the luck of the draw which items to choose from your book.

The astrick is to let me know I removed your original post where you claimed it as an extra item to show you actually read it for the item of the week.

Lina REVIEW:
Team Challenge-Scavenger Hunt R2>
Team 2: Vicious Vixens

Item: #4 - SOURCE OF LIGHT
The Perfect Candidate by Stephanie Sterling
Book:The Perfect Candidate
Rating:
Finished: 23-Jul-12
Review: This book had so many grammatical and typographical errors that it kept pulling me out of the story, which wasn’t that great to start off with. It was sickly sweet, the writing needed editing and the characters were completely 2 dimensional. Not an author I would chase up again.
*Source of light - “She glanced up with a frown when a car’s headlight shone into the room- that was odd, she usually couldn’t tell if a car was driving by outside”
Other Items:
*FLOWERS -“Michael had made sure there was champagne on ice to help soften Ashley’s defenses. He had even brought flowers!”
*MIRROR/REFLECTION - “She raised a distracted hand to her mouth and glanced at herself in the bathroom mirror. “What were you thinking?” she demanded of her reflection.”
*BAD WEATHER - “It’s snowing!” Ashley gasped.
“Oui, mademoiselle,” Rousseau chuckled. “I am afraid Pierre has just heard from the airport. All outbound flights have been cancelled.”
