Rhonda (dragonfyre) | 2 comments I would actually rather have a prequel to IT. There was much hinted at about prior appearances of IT and Pennywise, but only enough to whet one's appetite. Bring on the "Maine" course.

Jeff (thelongwait) | 293 comments I honestly didn't see a sequel to the Shining, but Doctor Sleep was a very pleasant surprise.

I can't really see Doctor Sleep as a sequel to The Shining, just like I never really felt Black House was a sequel to It.

Because King's characters are so well fleshed, and their stories told in such detail, I don't think they lend themselves to actual sequels. His short stories that have later been filled out to novels have been great, though.

I think you meant Black House was a sequel to The Talisman. And personally I agree with
Brent. He posted previously on this stream that it was kind of a sequel in and of itself w/ them as kids and then as adults. Any sequel would be a rehash & I think it's best left as it was. No prequel or sequel.

Kandice | 4387 comments Raeanna, of course you're right!

I also agree that It is a self contained prequel, sequel, whatever. The perfect example of a "Then & Now" story.

Raeanna | 7 comments Yeah, something I would do. :-) Though if he did put something out I might have to read it just to see which direction he went in. :-)
