Tracy | 140 comments I just finished a reread of Odd Thomas which is in a warm place and someone gets shot.

DC where are you at in this challenge? Finished Odd Hours yet?

I haven't started Odd Hours yet, but I did just finish HOUSE OF ODD (which doesn't actually meet any task on the challenge - but was a fun quick read with lots of pictures :-)
House of Odd (Graphic Novel) by Dean Koontz

I have finished two books (out of 10) for the challenge so far:
1. The Program by Stephen White (character gets shot)
2. Why People Get Tattoos and Other Body Art (BLOOD)

I am almost finished with The Bride Collector which will be another BLOOD book.

Tracy | 140 comments My home page tells me I need to up my challenge. I didn't realize I would be reading as many to match the criteria.

I have yet to start The Bride Collector but I have started Adam. Maybe I will finish July with Dekker.
How are you liking TBC DC? Have you read BoneMan's Daughters? Loved that book but I would have to set it aside many times.

Haven't read The Bone Mans Daughter yet... will sometime though because I've heard good things about it. Just finished The Bride Collector gave it 4 stars - I really liked it, but it was bit shy of an Amazing 5 star rating.

I have now read 3 out of my 10 challenge books. The Bride Collector meets the BLOOD task and the Character Gets Shot task.

Rachel | 3524 comments for the challenge i've read:

The Ghost and Mrs. McClure
(character gets shot)

and The Bride Collector
(b-l-o-o-d in title) (character gets shot)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 500 comments I got to get a going on this but I kinda knew July wasn't gonna get me very far.

Tracy | 140 comments Hey guys, how are you doing with this challenge? I am at nine books and really having fun with it.

You are crazy Tracy :-) Tomorrow begins my 7 day vacation and I plan on listening to several audiobooks during my travels. I'll give you an update on my challenge progress when I get back :-)

Oh VACATION, cool. Where are you traveling to? I love vacations!

I am visiting my hometown in Southern Utah. It will be extremely hot as the temperatures are typically slightly lower than Las Vegas. I haven't been back to visit in 7 years and this is my first trip outside my Boulder Bubble in 3 years :-)

message 64: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments That is so exciting DC! I hope you have a fabulous time. I guess you will get through a lot of books especially if you are driving. I got through five books on my way to Florida one year before my kids bugged me so bad I had to turn on the radio.

I plan to alternate between audiobooks and music to maintain my sanity. It is a 10 hr drive each way

have a great time on your vacation. 10 hours is long but not as long as driving between jersey and florida-that was hell

Mostly I just drive my 10 minute commute to work so 10 hrs is going to be a bit of an adjustment :-)

btw I am also starting a new job on August 6th - working with a small, independent chocolate factory :-)

message 69: by Tracy (last edited Jul 20, 2012 06:09PM) (new)

Tracy | 140 comments I have two youngons Dustin, a daughter 19and a son 12. It is such a joy traveling 11 hours with two kids. Haha! They didn't do the "are we there yet" they just liked fighting over the radio and DVD player. One would want to watch a movie and one would want to listen to music. Uuuggghhh! The best thing I ever did though was to buy a vehicle with three rows of seats and the back two lay down flush so it's like a floor. They will lay blankets down and sleep most of the way.

For you just have the one daughter?

They live close, but I don't get to see them often :-( Hoping that will change in the near future.

message 74: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments Weren't you working somewhere called sunflower something? Is this chocolate job going to be your only job? Don't you usually work two or more jobs?

message 75: by Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl, Colorful Colorado (new)

Thank You. I'm excited to work for an independent, small business rather than the giant corporations I have been working for.

Tracy wrote: "Weren't you working somewhere called sunflower something? Is this chocolate job going to be your only job? Don't you usually work two or more jobs?"

The chocolate company will replace my Sunflower Farmers Market job where I have worked for over 2 years. Since mid March I have only been working at Sunflower because I got promoted to Dairy/Frozen Supervisor. So basically, I've been making less money but actually had time to sleep and breath working only one job :-) It's possible that I could make arrangements to continue working at Sunflower on the weekends, but I put in my two weeks notice yesterday.

I don't know about heroine Christine but I agree you deserve to be something after reading it. Maybe brave, strong willed, confident. OK so maybe a heroine.
