I read a quote in a childrens book I think about reading 'it mentioned knights, fairies, faraway lands'...not much to go on I know but I can't remember it and its bugging me - think it was in a childrens books, maybe a Roald Dahl? Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

It looks like you've stumped everyone. I think there's a Goodreads group that specialises in trying to track down quotes like these. Have you tried them?

to be fair there's not much to go on! I am annoyed that I can't remember where I read it but it was great, really apt about where books can take you - all about imaginary lands - I wanted to stencil it onto a bookcase for my boys

You're not referring to Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree Stories are you? My girls loved them. If the book is relatively new, could it be The Moon Coin (and even if it's not the book you're thinking of, it's a really lovely book).
