Nina Just a good down to earth read. Not always funny but does cheer you to "know" these characters and you wish to laugh and cry along with them and never let them go out of your life. Great description of the Dorset English countryside. A Jewish couple from Berlin finds themselves in pre-war England; he delighted to find himself there and wants desperately to "fit" in. His wife meloncholy over leaving her family and homeland with good reason. But, together they forge a life for themselves and along the way finally do fit, it seems.

Nina Everyone I recommend this book to, calls to thank me. I, too, loved it.

Michele Brenton I read it two years ago when it came out as Mr Rosenblum's List. I loved it and read it over two nights. I followed the recipe and instructions on Sadie's Baumtorte and made it for my husband and son. It was delicious.

My review is on the Goodreads page for this book.
