Destiny! C= I've only read the first two in this series but man I really enjoyed them. Are the others as good as the first couple of stories?

They really are quite good and the additional 'power' that she has (her Beast) is actually one of my favorite characters.

Her Rogue Mage are in my top ten for post-apoc books - very good. :) I still need to read Divergent though and I have been told to save a post-apoc spot for this one b/c it is soooooo good.

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments i finished Kiss of Frost for the free space on 6/19. I give it three and a half stars. I wanted to give it more, but sometimes the main character seems to be so stupid, i felt like i was watching a horror movie yelling at the screen "don't go in there!" you know what I mean? However, even with this flaw i enjoyed the book and will continue the series.

I know what you mean. Gwen knew that someone was out to get her so she still went places alone and put herself in the middle of dangerous situations. She made me want to scream :P

Review:
I really enjoy the Demonica series but I had been putting off reading this book because I didn't really like Sin very much from the previous books in the series. However I've read the Lords of Deliverance series and there were a few holes in my knowledge so I decided to get this book over and done with.

I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought. I liked the action and the story. I also really liked how we got to see quite a bit of the Sem brothers and saw how their lives have been going after they found their mates. The romance was enjoyable to read too.

I'm still not a Sin fan but I'm glad I read her story.

Vampires: Bad, Badder and Baddest. Heroine to stupid to live. The Hero -- well they don't call him snake for nothing. He lies, lies and lies .. If he told the truth his fangs would fall out. BUT: it is almost obsessively readable and oddly enjoyable.

Dana (erato) | 922 comments OK, so I read the first 4 pages of City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare and my hold on Divergent came in...whoot! so I changed over and read the WHOLE freakin' thing last night. Argh, I'm tired, but man I enjoyed it.

Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth
Week 1: young adult paranormal
Completed: June 21st, 2012
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review: Well I have to admit that I really like this one! YA is not always to my liking but this was enjoyable. I like the post-apoc factor, and the divergence issue was very interesting. Four is a great character and Tris was the best! I had to start worrying about myself at moments when I was really enjoying her being bad-@$$ and blood-thirsty. :) I will definately be reading Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth and hope I can work it into another shelf.

P.S. for anyone else that has read this, is the narrative voice on this one achingly similar to Stephanie Meyer's The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer ?

by Richelle Mead finished 6/22/12
4/5 stars
I think this is the best book of the series so far. The action was good and kept me interested. I'm interested to see if there are any other side affects of Rose being Shadow kissed. I was happy to see that Mason passed on happy. Seeing him sad all the time bothered me a little because that's not how he was. Rose and Dimitri's relationship finally progresses and then WTH. I'm definitely reading the next one to find out what happens.

However, I liked How realistically the author handled Jeanie's near rape. I also would have liked to hear more from cabel
I will continental to read this series.

I gave this book 3/5 stars because the first 3/4 of it were sooo slow to me. I had a hard time getting into it. I did like the last couple of chapters, when they were planning their escape. Then when they did escape it got a little more interesting. It's a shame that she waited until close to the end to add some action.

Review: Something about these books just appeals to me. I've always enjoyed the 'immortal band of warriors' thing but this series is especially good.

This book tells the story of Jackie and Iain. Jackie is one of three sisters who are the daughters of what we could essentially call an alien prince. They have special powers that allow them to become the mates to the Theronai Warriors. Jackie is even more special; she could be a mate to any of them. Too bad she doesn't want to be a mate at all. Iain is the only one of the warriors who is cold and stand-offish and NOT trying to get Jackie to 'pick him'. So of course, she does! He has his reasons for not wanting her and after she bonds to him, he has to be careful to hide who he really is from her. It is a great story and a nice change from the standard MO for these books. And the previous ones were awesome!

This story also had tons of development for future books in it. It set up stories for Ronan, Cain, Nicolas, Joseph, and an unnamed fifth warrior. We are sure to see many more installments in Mrs. Butcher's wonderful series! :)

Kelly | 54 comments Favorite series The Darkest Passion by Gena Showalter
finished 6/25/12 4/5 stars
Aeron never really interested me in the other books so I put his off for a long time. I'm sorry I did. I loved him and Olivia together. Aeron and Wrath live thinking that they can do everything alone and don't need a women to love or take care of them. That is until Olivia comes along. Olivia is the angel who has become a fallen angel to be with Aeron. Even though she knew that she couldn't have him forever she still wanted him for as long or little as she could have him.
Legion still got under my skin and tried everything to get Aeron to love her as more than just his daughter.
Ultimately Aeron sacrifices everything for Olivia. Also to save his brothers from the stupid deal that Legion made with Lucifer. I'm happy to see that they got their hea, but sad that Aeron lost his tattoos and his wings.
Can't wait to read the next one and see what happens with Gideon and Nightmares. Oh and poor Paris what a ride he's been on and it's just going to get more interesting.

Her LOTU books are just soooooo good aren't they? :) I really liked Aeron much better in his story than I had before as well. He just wasn't a character that came across well. It was a sweet story and impressive what she gave up for him. One dedicated heroine!

Unlike the apparently stand alone books for Spade and Mencheres, Vlad's book is the beginning of a new series. I wanted to love this book, don't get me wrong I really liked it just didn't love it. Vladislav Basarab is a medieval prince with a few edges softened a bit by time. (if you don't think they are check out some actual accounts of the doings of princes and kings ) Leila, after a childhood accident not only shocks anyone she touches, but she can see their sins and their past, present and future. These skills get her kidnapped and forced into a plot against Vlad.
Bones, Cat,Kira and Mencheres make a cameo appearance.

The book reads fast. About three hours. I have hopes for the next book in the series.
