I'm from Queensland, Australia and whilst we don't get anywhere near as cold as most places in the world, it's colder than I would like in winter. :P
the black cats is a good team name but it seems really familiar. Was the 13th team last round the black cats?

I'm going to read
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)
by Richelle Mead

That would actually work for YA Pnr, Nici.

The GR Grimoire?
The GR Grimoire Gals?
The Clever Coven?
or something similar...
I kind of like the GR Grimoire Gals since it has a reference to GR and has a 'book' in the title but would love to see what you all are thinking of in this line.

I will be reading
Week 1: YA paranormal

For YA paranormal I'll read Marked

I bought a copy a few months ago in a boxed set with two other books I wanted and just haven't gotten around to reading Marked yet so this is a great excuse :)
And I don't think I'm enough of an organized person to be team captain.

The virtual tracker of all shelves stamped & all bingo cards is up. I copied up the cards from each thread, and need other eyes to check that there are no mistakes. If the captain or an enthusiastic teammate could pop over to check the notice, then your card and let me know it's OK, I would really appreciate it! Many, many thanks!

Rise from Darkness (Battle for Souls #1)
by Ciara Knight
The GR Grimoire Gals, sounds good to me.
Dana I think you should be captain, since you have alot of experience already :) If you don't mind doing it.

Making Father's Day brunch right now so I'm off to cook. We're having make your own crepes buffet. Fresh strawberries or bananas w/ Nutella (my fav) YUM!!!

Review: I was a huge fan of Faith Hunter's Rogue Mage series so I was skeptical about switching over from her post-apoc success to an urban-fantasy based on Native American lore. Native American based faction can be so poorly executed, and more often than not, is. This series however was just another reassurance to me that Faith Hunter always puts her big girl panties on before she writes. She is awesome!
I really dislike writers who try so hard for complete stand alone novels when writing a series that they repeat insane amount of info in each installment. Hunter doesn't do that and she gets a big nod of respect from me in that regard. Her JY novels never repeat info unless it is immediate and pertinent. For that I am truly grateful. :)
This book in the series was super action-packed. So much so that there were points where I was forgetting all the junk that Jane needed to take care of. Even with all the secondary and tertiary plot threads happening, it was well balanced and the tie ins were all reasonable and feasible and therefore added to the story. I never feel like Hunter overworks her plot elements and this was just another example of her well worked craft.
I only had one complaint which was in regard to the ending. This one had a bit of that, "Oh, right. We're done now." These just kind of stop and don't allude to what may happen in the next book. I'm just left wondering. *crap* Some might call this quality writing. I call it cruel and unusual punishment.
Regardless, I would definitely recommend the book and will continue on with the series. (a.k.a.: When is that next book coming out, dang it?!? C= )

I'm going to convert my first post above into an info post then so all our stuff is right on page one. Let me know if there is any other info you want to see there.

Not a bad little YA gothic. I might check out the next one. Might not. And a bit more.

I have converted my first check-in post into a team stats post. I added some extra info and links to try to keep the post as small as possible. These stats posts can get half a page long if the game goes on very long. (that 'spoiler' at the bottom is just me condensing my original words in that post so disregard that)
We do still need a name though. Any other suggestions for names? The Clever Coven had a few votes so far but we can take some more suggestions. Let your creativity flow! What do you ladies think?
ETA: Oh, and sorry if I got your time zone wrong. It has been a few decades since geography captured my attention.

Just a reminder! Later C=

You write the absolute shortest reviews, Ming. Not gonna give us more than that, huh? :p

It just arrived in the mail so I feel like that's a sign :P

Pleased to help out (and my memory needs those little reminders...though some names are unforgettable!)
