Sandra | 25910 comments The winning shelf has been announced: Psychic

Sadly not for us, but a 3 way tie between 12, 13 & 15, if they have all their appropriate shelves read.

Has anyone read this series?

Sandra | 25910 comments Steph's read quite a few of them, I think she's up to about #6.

Caroline (zombiecazz) | 108 comments Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione
Magic shelf
Finished 01/09/12
4 stars

The immortal Ares is a horseman, as long as his seal stays intact he will remain Ares and not turn into War. We really won't like him if he turns into War. So preventing the horsemen's seals from breaking will stop them from turning evil and hold back the apocalypse. So yeah it's pretty important.

This is a really good addition to the Demonica world. There are Angels, hell hounds and some of our favourite Demonica characters. It did take me a couple of chapters to get into the story, but once there it stormed along. Already have the next book downloaded.

message 562: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Yay! Another Stamp!

Glad you liked it Caroline, I did too, but decided to stop reading them till I've read all the Demonica books. I didn't realise they were a spinoff till it was too late :)

Caroline (zombiecazz) | 108 comments I'm going to read Blood Trinity (Belador, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Wish we were still in the running.

Sandra | 25910 comments OOh, I've got that one and I've put it off ever since it came out. Very interested to see what you think of it Caroline :)

message 565: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (zombiecazz) | 108 comments I've had it for ages too.
Fingers crossed.

message 567: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments Sorry I didn't post a book yet. When I checked yesterday and the shelf was a winning shelf for three teams I thought we were done. I am headed out now (husband not so patiently waiting). I will go through my books and the shelf and post later today!

message 568: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments Okay, I am going to read Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble!

message 569: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Well, really, truly, you probably don't have to, but its another excuse to get a book off the tbr pile, and I always like to finish off the game.

And been there done that with the hubby impatiently waiting, LOL.

message 570: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments No winners yet, wow...

Sandra you reminded me that we have another Lupi book due out this year yet, yay! I hope you enjoy Cullen, he's a fun sexy character.

Caroline I'm also anxious to see what you think about the Belador series, I have the 2nd book, not the first from the great Borders hoarding frenzy. Still need to fill a few gaps. I've read most of Kenyon's dark hunter series and curious how this one compares.

Steph (angel4492) | 32708 comments CONGRATULATIONS, Divine Nine!
You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'magic'.

[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]

Good Job!! :D

message 572: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Thanks Steph ;)

Lis, I let this series fall way behind, but I've got all the books, incl preorder of the one coming soon. And sexy Cullen is living up to his persona. Grandmother just got back from China, Cynna just got the weird tat from Jiri on her hand and everything is about to go down whilst looking for the Codex :)

Sandra | 25910 comments Blood Lines (World of the Lupi, #3) by Eileen Wilks
Psychic Shelf
3/9/12 ★★★★

It was quite some time since I'd read the previous book but that didn't matter as Ms Wilks kindly gave a summary of the previous book at the beginning of this one. I was very appreciative :)

So magic appears to be suddenly leaking into our world at an alarming rate and weird things are happening, demons appearing and unexpected shifting of wolves in the middle of choral performances leading to all the werewolf heirs, including Rule, being targeted by demons.

She who cannot be named is obviously trying to take out the wolf clans by targeting the heirs, so she can get her hands on the Codex of Magical Stuff, which is presumed to have appeared with the influx of magic.

Lily Yu, FBI and the Chosen of Rule is part of the task force to solve the magic & demon problem and she recruits Cynna to assist. Cullen has also appeared and together they all try to find out who is summoning the demons, then defeat the summoner, at the same time trying not to battle the Leiddolf clan, which somehow Rule is now the heir to as well.

Really looking forward to the next book, especially with the 2 surprises at the end (view spoiler).

Lis | 4037 comments Which also means you can add this book to a certain (view spoiler) challenge too.

message 575: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Well I considered that but he doesn't have a big enough role IMO to qualify. Don't worry I'm well over 20 books for that challenge already :D

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments Book: Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, a Paranormal Romance
Read: 9/3/12
Shelf: Psychic
Rating: 3/5
Comments:
The book had good promise and characters I started to like. Jolie Wilkins has a store in LA where she does readings and sees peoples futures. She's not very confident in herself, but she's happy and her best friend works for her. Then a warlocks comes in for a reading. Jolie doesn't even believe in all that stuff, but she ends up bring pulled into that world and believing a lot more because she is extremely powerful. The book is called a "paranormal romance," but I don't think it lived up to the romance part. I felt a little cheated that there wasn't any strong love until, maybe, the end. You have to read the next book to know. Sometimes series that start like this never get any better and I'm sorry to have started them. But then others pick up in the second or third book and I'm really glad I stuck with it. So I will research this series a bit more tomorrow and see if it's worth getting the next book!!

JenniJenni | 294 comments Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye (Psychic Eye Mystery, #1) by Victoria Laurie

Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye
Psychic Shelf
03 September 12
★★★★

Wow! I very much enjoyed this book! I was was reluctant when I saw this weeks shelf was Psychic. I haven't read many books that could be classified as such and I really didn't know what to expect.

Abby Cooper is a psychic that inadvertently gets involved in a murder case. She meets her love interest, Dutch Rivers, on a blind date. Coincidentally, he ends up being a cop and they set out to solve a murder case together.

The author does a great job with her writing. It's light-hearted, but interesting. The characters are very likable and believable. The book was an easy and enjoyable read. I can't wait to read book two in the series!

message 578: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Interesting Sue, you could classify Magic Bites as slow on the romance then vavavooommmm, mind you I suppose it is really a UF. When you do your research I'd like to know what you find out, cause I have seen the series around on GR.

Jennifer I know what you mean about psychics. I was really surprised looking through the shelf how many I'd already read. I suppose because I don't have a psychic shelf myself I don't think of books that way. Glad you enjoyed it, I know Steph usually does as well, looks like I should try and find some Abby books.

JenniJenni | 294 comments Well, girls, it looks like Team #12 has requested the winning stamp. Sigh. I HATE losing. Oh well, at least I met a great group of girls that share my weird passion for fantasy series. :) Hopefully, we'll get to team up again! Feel free to contact me about any future book games.

From what I can tell, it looks more like a Sookie book (can't decide who it's going to be) and not a Magic Bites type. I like both series, but I like the Magic books better! I think I'll continue the series though for as long a my library has it!

Lis | 4037 comments Great reading team! Enjoyed playing with you gals... If Mr Randomizer would have been on our side this round I think we coulda won. I have to admit real life took over during the holiday weekend here and I've been distracted with other shiny books this week. Hopefully I'll get paired with someone from our team next round again. Happy Reading til then!

message 582: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Thanks Sue, yeah I love the Magic books, & quite like the early Sookies, I think I'm up to about #6 or #7 of those, but the reviews of the later books have put me off a bit :D

It was great playing with all you fabulous ladies, hope to see you all in Round 6 and I'd be very happy if Mr R chucked us together again ;DDDDD

message 583: by Caroline (new)

Caroline (zombiecazz) | 108 comments Shame it had to end. Already signed up for next round.

message 587: by Sue (new)

Sue (knitwitsl) | 96 comments I hope my team the next round is as nice as this team - and on top of reading each week like we were! :-)

message 588: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Hope so too Sue! It helps having an active chatty group, makes it more fun. Got more great books, new book buddies and my TBR pile got bigger again. It helps pick books when you see friends have read too or it's at least on their list.

I think I'm going to save Samurai Game for the next round of bingo because I know it will be a fast read.

message 589: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25910 comments Definitely better when you're on a team that chats, about anything really :D

After all, we need to make connections with others, not just read books. Otherwise we wouldn't be here on GR wanting to talk books or about our other obsessions. LOL

message 590: by JenniJenni (new)

JenniJenni | 294 comments Completely agree with y'all. I read some books that I never would have read because you girls suggested it or peaked my interest. Thanks for that!
