What kind of E-reader?

Kindle Keyboard (w/o special offers) + Calibre and I wouldn't have it any other way <3. What really swung my vote was that I was worried B&N would go under like Borders. There is already so much controversy surrounding them right now. I figured Amazon is pretty stable and I looooove shopping through them anyways! They always have wonderful prices. I also knew that I didn't want a 'touch' reader. I like to read laying down, and sometimes I'll jump up and carry my reader with me somewhere, and I didn't want to worry about accidentally flipping the page (like I always seemed to do while using my iBooks app on my iPhone). In the end, I'm extremely happy with my Kindle Keyboard and Calibre is super easy to use, too! :))
I started with a HP Touchpad with a Kindle app, I didnt mind reading on it but I found it a bit heavy and clunky to carry around with me, also I wasnt keen on using Amazon and being tied down to them, so I got a kobo touch and I really like it, nice to read on, epub and easy to carry around.
I'm on my 2nd Kindle and absolutely love it. I use it constantly, and I'm one of the few who actually uses the text-to-speech option. The voice is monotonous but that's exactly what I want because I'm a bit of an insomniac and having the Kindle read to me helps me fall asleep! If the voice wasn't nice and monotonous it would keep me awake. I haven't had any problems getting it to interface with my local library ebooks, and the selection at my library is pretty decent (almost all of the books we've read so far in this bookclub have been available at my library).
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kindle in the future, I absolutely love mine and highly recommend it.
... I use my htc g2 and more recently a no name android tablet my dad bought for me... Ereader apps I use aldiko and overdrive (i use the library, a lot)
UPDATE: The choice has been made. It all came down to greed. My local evil overlords(also known as walmart) had the Nook Color with a $50 Gift card. Couldn't pass it up. :( I tried to resist, I really did. Then my wife started making comments about how nice it would be, and how I forgot to get her something on the last *Insert event/day here* So now, she has a Nook Color that she graciously lets me use. Though, thinking about it I'm pretty sure there was a necklace bought. She uses the stock, I sideload android through the SD card slot and use aldiko. Thanks for all the suggestions! :)
The SD card slot almost had me getting the nook, but I'm too nervous that B&N is going out of business. A co-worker of mine used to be a manager of a B&N and he jumped ship not too long ago because of how poorly the company is doing.

I actually looked at the fire, but the price kind of turned me off and the reviews stating all the bugs (most of which I'm sure amazon has fixed by now.)
I have a Kindle keyboard and a Kindle Fire. I was really excited to get the Fire, but I have to admit I'm not it's biggest fan. Don't get me wrong, it does a lot of great things and is very reasonably priced. As far as reading on it goes, I BY FAR prefer my Kindle keyboard. I like to marathon read and the weight is a big issue for me and it gives me computer screen eyes (other people know what that is right?) after a little while. It's awesome for my daughter's books and games and movies. My Kindle keyboard and I however are rarely parted!
I feel so alone, I love my Nook tablet more than anything in the world. I can't wait until the library gets ebooks that I actually want to read so I can put them on my Nook.
I love my Kindle Touch. CALIBRE IS THE BEST PROGRAM BTW! I tried the Nook, Kobo and Kindle before I settled on the one I wanted. I like the weight of the Kindle Touch and actually don't mind the interface. And with Calibre installed it's easy to convert books to .mobi. I'll admit that battery life isn't great if you keep it connected to the internet but i don't find it that much of a pain since I'm usually always near a computer. I also like the fact that your books are stored on a cloud system - if anything happens to your kindle, your books are safe and sound.
I'd go Kindle but I think most e-readers are getting better and better as new technology comes out so there aren't so many differences anymore.
Just don't get LCD screens! They'll mess your eyes right up!
I got the $69 basic kindle, because I am on a tight budget. I really enjoy the e ink display, and its very light and portable. I didn't want or need many bells or whistles. Comparing the two bookstores. In my opinion Amazon tends to have more indie stuff available. B&N seems to lean toward the established book publishers. If you mainly like to read novels and short stories, and you don't want movies and audio on your e reader. The basic kindle is a good choice.
I'm in love with my Paperwhite! The display is amazing and I really like the new 'time to read' feature!
I have a kindle touch and I love it! The only complaint so far is that it doesn't have a timer for audiobooks so I usually listen to them on my HTC Evo while it is plugged in charging by the bed at night.I had the option of getting a fire but when I compared all, I decided on the touch for the price.
I've an iPad, and it's true the light can give you a splitting headache if you read for a long time.
I have the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. I initially had the one without the light and it totally makes a difference! My husband no longer has to complain to me to turn my reading light off on my side of the bedroom at night, ha. I like the Nook because it has expandable memory unlike the other brands. I also like the E-ink technology. I have an Android tablet for other things. I think people who get the reader/tablets end up not reading as much because they can get distracted by the other features. I still buy books that I love. The feeling of paper and bind can't be replaced! Biggest advantage to the Nook Simple Touch is the battery life. With the amount of books I read, I still barely charge it. I always have it with me. People need to take advantage of e-readers. I think the book "purists" are missing out on the fact you can have so many books digitally in one place. For me, there's a time and place for everything. I embrace both the digital age and the feeling of paper. If I had to buy books in paper only I know I wouldn't have read as many books as I have over the past few years. Plus the sharing capabilities are the best! :)

Kym wrote: "I feel so alone, I love my Nook tablet more than anything in the world. I live in the midwest and luckily my library has e-books feature. OverDrive also has an app in most smartphone platforms: iOS, Android, and even Windows Phone! I borrow e-books and audiobooks there and you can download them onto your Nook easily (I have the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight and borrowing books is a cinch). Hopefully your library participates in this if not already!

Also, according to one of the Barnes and Noble representatives, Adobe Digital Editions is available for the Mac as well. The lady I was speaking with had a Mac and she says she uses it all the time. So yay on that too. ^_^
