When he came home the next day he found out that his parents knew. It was torturous. They teased him and tormented him as he walked through the house.

She had tried to comfort him but it wasn't helping so much because she was being teased the same day. They had made fun of her seeing eye dog and walking cane.
And something snapped in Jake. He punched his father square in the face.
He beat against the closet doors, screaming and pounding.
She said she was. though she was terrified. Jake wanted nothing more then to comfort his sister and get out of there once and for all
He told her to stand back and once she was a safe distance away he began running at the door. After about the fifth time he stood back a little and kicked the door open, light blinding him a second.
His sister ran up and gave him a huge. Though his happiness was short lived, because a few minutes later his parents got home.
Jake held her and heard the door. He lead her carefully up the stairs and whistled for her seeing eye dog. He had told her to stand at her door and wait for him. He packed his things and then hers.
He just barely get done packing when he heard, his parents coming up the stairs. He quickly ran back over to his sister. Before they got up the stairs.
Jake's foot hit his father's chest hard, knocking him to the floor. He grabbed the bags and picked up his sister and stormed out of the house.
The dog trailed behind as they ran and he went to his boss's house. He let him in, understanding completely. This man had allowed him to stay in the store before but this was the first time he had been to his house and with his sister.
His boss, brought them into the living room, and sat them down on the couch. With the dog close by. Mr. Haywood, brought out some Hot chocolate for Jake and his sister. It was freezing out side. Jake was very grateful. Mr. Haywood, smiled in a sort of creepy way. like he had something weird on his mind. Something he had thought about ever since Jake started working for him.
Jake didn't realize Mr. Haywood's intentions and sipped the hot chocolate dumbly, a hand on his sisters lap.
They all talked for a few minutes before Jake's sister started to yawn. Jake asked Mr. Haywood, where they wood be sleep that night. Mr. Haywood lead them to a far off room at the back of the house.
Jake carefully led his sister to the room, and helped her get comfortable. He layed next to her staring at the ceiling she couldn't see, unable to fall asleep.
Mr. Haywood Went into the room to check on them a few minutes later, or so Jake thought. Jake couldn't sleep so he went out of the room with Mr. Haywood.
It was dark and hard to see but Jake could tell something was up. He hung back, not wanting to make noise.
Jake eventually, did make a noise though, which let Mr. Haywood know he was there "Hey there buddy, what wrong?" Mr. Haywood asked looking Jake up and down admiringly, with a creepy smile on his face. Mr. Haywood, was thinking that he was going to get to do something that he has wanted to do for a long time.
"Nothing, just couldn't sleep." Jake replied softly, not really freaked out, only a bit nervous.
Mr. Haywood had nodded in understanding, "very understandable" he assured. "when I'm unable to sleep I walk myself down to the kitchen for some warm milk and a turkey sandwhich" he waved his hand down the hallway leading to the kitchen and ushered him that way.

She toyed listlessly with her spoon in her empty breakfast bowl and watched her parents and older siblings get ready for work. No one, as usual, really paid her any mind.
But she was used to that, no one paying her any mind, and she enjoyed just being able to watch people and not having to talk to them
After those incidents, no one would speak to her. They didn't want to be near her. She thought it was because they feared her slightly. She could not tell which was worse. People freaing her, or the regret. The horrible feeling of regret. She didn't need the added resentment, on top of the horrid angst or guilt.
She would walk in a straight line, not even looking around. She knew what was around her, she didn't need to look at it anymore. Then she would get home, and sleep. Sleep couldn't hurt her. She could escape in her sleep, and be unaware of everyone else's pain.
It had been a long time since Catie had cried. She decided she would never cry. But seeing this boy so sad brought back all of the emotions she had not been wanting to feel. She managed to ask him what was wrong.
Just because she had hidden her feelings inside a long time ago, didn't mean that she didn't feel things for others, she felt so deeply it was like his tears were her tears.
Catie sat down beside him and picked at the wild flowers in the ground. She tried to comfort him, kept asking what was wrong, but there was a nagging feeling inside her head that told her that he was crying because of her.
