Terri | 19576 comments I found his Corsair books a disaster. I know that if the author ever stumbled on this discussion thread and read that it would not seem very nice. But I have to be honest and for me, they were awful.
usually my father and I share taste in books and this is a series he also could not endure. I lent him Corsair and he forced himself through it (I could not finish it). And he refused to try book two.

They are very Young Adult in character and in writing style.

Andy | 1510 comments Now I know there NOT h/f books but....? hopefully tis ok to ask this one question - Has anyone read any of his Voyage series books & could recommend? Im thinking of giving Ulysses or Sinbad a go, thanks

Anirudh I enjoyed reading his Viking Trilogy. It was very realistic. Sometimes it bored me in between but overall it a great read.

Paula Lofting (paulalofting) I had a gi at Odin's Child a few years ago, got about 3/4 way through and had to stop. It was absolutely awful. Long pieces of 'telling' us the story bored me senseless. But that's just me. I like books that grab my attention by 'showing' me the story through the eyes of its characters and setting rather than through the author's voice.

Jorge Williams Tim Severin is awesome!
I've read his Viking series and his Saxon series and found them really entertaining.

Laura Tenfingers | 178 comments I've only read Odinn's Child and found it boring but somehow interesting too, the MC went to so many places that it seemed like it should be really good... but in the end boring won out and I haven't tried another.

Terri | 19576 comments Yep, boring for me too. As expressed earlier in thread, there was a distinct lack of dialogue which helped to make things hard going.

Jorge Williams . . . I'm going round Tim's house and giving him a manly hug.

Good on you Jorge! Poor Timmy.

Andy | 1510 comments I really enjoyed his Viking series & also tried one of his Voyaging books which was even better imo, where his writing seemed to flow a lot better

Terri | 19576 comments Why are we hugging, Tim? I'll come too if you think he needs one. Although, I am fairly sure he couldn't give two hoots about some random people not liking his books. lol. But I'm always up for hugs.
