Chicks, there's been a calamity! Our basement is in the building across from us, underneath another tenant. The plumbing in this complex (which my Hubby runs part time & we live in full time) is about 30+ years old. I went down to the basement this morning to do laundry only to find a partially collapsed ceiling and yucky water all over & into everything in that section of the front of the basement!
Unfortunately, the large box which has been holding the books I've been giving away was directly under the worst part of it! Needless to say the books aren't in readable condition any more! Neither are the books I was going to give to the senior apartment building around the corner. (A few decorations and supplies were also in the wrong place at the wrong time too!)
I am SO sorry!
I know my Aunt will have more mysteries, suspense and romance books for me later in the winter or early spring, perhaps sooner. When she's ready to pass them along to me, I will let ya'll know and begin picking winners again!
Again, I'm SO sorry about this - I feel so bad! I hope ya'll understand!
Oh my gosh, how awful. We had water problems one time in a house, so I understand completely how devestating this is.
Thanks Debbie. I'm grateful actually it happened where it did in the basement otherwise my head may have exploded! lol

Sorry about that happening to you Jo. My sister had flooding in her basement when she lived in DC, that was a mess. But like you, she was glad it was just the basement, if it were upstairs she would have really had a major problem.
Oh no Jo! That happened to my family when I was in middle school, I lost almost my ENTIRE collection of Calvin and Hobbes books! Luckily the Tenth Anniversary Edition was up in my room at the time... I'm really sorry that you have to deal with that!
