Anyone have information on "The Callings?"

This book is based on a real story, even though it's a novel. I used to show dogs in that general area. Does anyone have any information about the characters in the book? It's a novel, but do they share the names of the people who actually lived the events? Alternatively, does anyone have suggestions about where I can find this information? Amazon has a listing, but no real information and most of the other listings I find online have only the book information and prices. The only thing I can find with a tiny bit of information is the press release and the link to the article it provides gives a 404 error. Thanks!

The author has a website at http://www.maryspalmer.com/ and keeps a blog, which is has a current date, so it's not a dead site. I'd e-mail her directly and ask her that question.
