Gwen (gwen_strickland) | 7 comments i almost bought tales of beetle the bard but i decided not to... is it good and does it really relate to HP series that much? u do no that most of the profit from tales of beetle the bard and quiddich though the ages and magical beasts and where to find them go to charity, right?

Pandy I love The Tales of Beedle the Bard, but I love anything related to the HP world. The book a collection of five tales for wizarding children, and each story is followed by Dumbledore's commentary (my favorite part). The stories are short and fun - they're similar to normal fairy tales (I think some people expected more, though I didn't), but in all but one case the women in these tales are more assertive. The fifth tale, The Tale of the Three Brothers is exactly the same as the one Hermione reads in DH. The book relates to the HP world, not Harry's story directly. Dumbeldore's amusing commentary includes some information on the perception of the tales of the wizarding world in general and also has some details on Hogwarts (such as the account of a disasterous theatrical production). I guess a short answer would be that if you're only a casual HP fan, The Tales of Beedle the Bard probably won't interest you much. Otherwise, I think it's a nice book to have for any one who really cares about the HP world.
