Maria: Thanks for the wonderful job! Another great F2F discussion. 36 attendees. 32 really tapos post-discussion na yong 4. I will create another thread for each meetup/F2F later. F2F Six just set a new record!!! Kinabog ni Frodo si Jane Eyre!!!What I really enjoyed in yesterday's event: (1) you were able to manage the discussion well. Everyone participated, nobody dominated the discussion and there were enough small debates; (2) we were able to attract 5 newbies - Janus, Charles Tan, Bennard, Billy and Dino (?). We were also able to woo the young Milo back. Almost everyone was there except Sheryl, Ace, Charles, Aprilyn and Louize. It could be because the book has an equally great movie, or Tolkien and the book were great but I am sure that part of the reason was you. Your voice was so clear and loud that even the sound of the coffee machine was no match hak hak. RakenRol!; (3) Some of the attendees came with props and attire. Kakatuwa!; (4) The idea of the song used as a way to reveal some personal events in one's life was very effective. I thank the courage of some people in sharing part of their past lives with us particularly Veronica, Monique, Billy and Tina. Sana we'll have more of these kasi we become more closer as we know more about each other.
The venue was nice. Naka-elevator pa tayo kahapon. Habang pumapasok ako sa lobby sabi ko aba iba ito!... May nagcomment lang na nakaka-distract ang archery. Sa likod kasi, natatakpan kami ng iba so di ko na rin napansin. Food was expensive and not as delicious as I was expecting them to be (for their price). Since ako ay gentleman ehem at matanda, pag may dumadating na babae, binibigay ko chair ko then I ask the lady at the counter. So, madalas akong nakatayo dahil 2 lang sila behind the counter. At least sa Baang, because of the reservation, nagpapasok sila ng extra crew members.

Above all, kudos to the newbies for showing their courage for finally showing their faces to us:
1) Charles Tan - finally! Iba lang talaga ang impression ng iba sa amin when we saw you for the first time kahapon. Serious kasi mag-post ka sa threads and fantasy ang genre and you are a published writer. So, we (or I especially) were expecting na serious-type of guy, malaking tao, medium built, cunio, etc hak hak. Hindi pala. Fun to talk with and approachable.
2) Janus - nahuli nya ako nakatingin sa kanya at one point hak hak. Pretty ka kasi at di kita narinig magsalita so mysterious ang dating. Sabagay first time mo, ganyan din si DC dati, ngayon isa na sya sa pinakamaingay hak hak. Si Tina at si Ella lang ang di naging tahimik kahit noong first time nila.
3) Bennard - my long lost son hak hak. Ang 20-year old na nagbabasa ng literary at nagsabing "decaying" na si Fermina at Urbano sa "Love in the Time of Cholera" hak hak. Kung di ka lang 20 y/o bagay kayo ni Ella hak hak.
4) Nico - the UST chemistry graduate na magme-medicine this coming school year. Wala naman akong way na ma-check ang name mo dahil sa Veronica lang ang nakaka-remember. May darating daw ng 53 y/o na newbie so tuwang-tuwa kami hak hak.
5) Billy Candelaria - finally nagkita rin tayo. At ang work mo ay nasa Cubao. Dyan din yata si Alona (pero may boyfriend na yan sayang hak hak). Bagay pa naman sana syang maging si Mrs. Alona Candelaria hak hak.
See you all on July 28. I will send the invite to the newbies tomorrow. After F2F parang tinatamad akong magbasa at mag-sulat. Tinatamad pa raw ang lagay na ito. Ang haba ang comment hak hak.
Thank you very much for the hospitality guys! though I still feel embarrassed, because I invited myself.. hahaha! but hey, it was well worth it! hehe.. I enjoyed the atmosphere and company of everyone.. (kala mo naman lahat nakausap.. hehe)Special thanks to the moderator: Maria,. My first experience with the F2F wouldn't have got any better than that.. CHEERS! and syempre si pareng Poe! who kept me company..

Nico, nagpasabi ka kay Veronica eh. Pero parang nagisip tuloy ako. Paano kung may Voldemort na biglang darating sa event kasi may stalker dito sa group. Then pasabugin (literal and figurative) tayo? Kung nagawa ni Nico (zero book, zero friend) na pumunta sa event kahit walang confirmation/invitation, kaya ring gawin ng isang may sayad. Like si Voldermort (the name you don't mention) na pinasabog tayo sa threads a couple of months back.I think we need to think about it. How about not publishing the venue and let the interested individual send an email to the moderator? Baka mas safe yon. Mabuti na yong nagiingat di ba? Or paranoid lang ako dahil tatay ako?

YAY Manix! Kahit ilang beses ko na siyang na-meet, gusto ko ulit siya makita.Share ko lang, first encounter ko with KikoMachine was when I saw an article on the book section of Candy (or Meg?) Magazine last 2005/2006 tapos naattract talaga ako sa cover kasi ang asteeg at ibang klase talaga. Graphic artist kasi si Manix sa magazine na yun kaya may promotion (and reason why I like the magazine. Cute lang ng illustrations). Tapos ayun, bumili ako agad ng copy ko at nagsimula ang kaadikan sa KikoMachine. Tataka nga ako bakit ilang years pa bago siya maging mainstream pero ayos din kasi madami na siyang taga-hanga ngayon.
Sira-sira yung blg1 ko kasi pinaikot ko sa buong klase. Buhay pa naman siya. Tapos nawala yung blg 2 at 4 ng dalawang beses kasi ninakaw sa school. (Pwede naman kasi bumili di ba?!) Ang saya lang kasi andami nang napublish ni Manix! Yay! Lagi ko siyang pinupuntahan sa Komikon, Visprint booth sa MIBF or kahit anong event. Stalker? Big fan lang! Whoooooo!!!!

and it sells for 500 something so if you can't find a copy you can get that :)

Ang mahal! I saw one on Libreria's Facebook for P75 kaso naunahan ako. So Pale View of Hills nalang nabili ko. May Never Let Me Go din dun! Try online baka meron na. Nagpahanap ako kay Celina din kaso parang wala pa siyang nahahanap haha manghiram nalang :)
Meron akong nakita sa booksale sa school na mga 120 php pero grr naunahan ako >:[
Hiraman na lang. Pag natapos ko ang pagre-read ko (slow reading), ipapahiram ko. Yong orig copy ko kay Rollie, tinatanong din sino ang next. :)

But this book is good. If you can spend P500+ for Divergent or Battle Royale, I think this book is not a bad investment compared to those. I mean you can re-read this when you are about to approach middle-age to assess where you are and what adjustments you need to do for the 2nd half of your life. You can again re-read this during your twilight years as you look back and assess how you lived your life. But I doubt really if you want to re-read Divergent or Battle Royale when you are old and gray hak hak.

KD: Sorry I won't be there. Di ako available that weekend eh.. :( Sayang, I would have wanted to meet her. It's my start of "summer" vacation trips this July and August so some of my weekends are already booked for out-of-town stuff.
Oo nga janus. Will yu be so kind...? I guess cary will do everything sa ngalan ni ka-manix!!! Hihi ;) would also appreciate dropping by my review of that kind of guy and share your views... so that i may know how will i go about the "chummy" moments with mina. Hihi :)
