Katie | 10 comments I like the House of Night series and Vampire Academy.

Ʈʜэ MɐÐɲΣ§Ꭶ ᏊརƭᏲƗϞ (death_of_the_rebelz) I think it all has to do with the story. If an author is able to effectively compose a vampire book, than great. Though, if books are specified toward the new vampire craze of the reader world, simply for the reason of appealing to it I find that it often develops an unappealing piece of literature. It should all be based on the capabilities of the author and the book, rather than the fetish it feeds.

I think, as of right now, I have only read one vampire book I enjoyed (Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa) so I'm not dismissing the topic forever, but it would be nice for a change to have faeries be the best thing, or something. I don't know.
Variety, buttermunks. We need it.

The whole vampire thing gets boring after about two/three books with the same basic plot just with different characters...

Rachel (APCB Reviews) (gr8rach) | 52 comments I don't really think it's a bad idea. It's all about execution. Any book can be good even if it uses repetitive themes and plots if it's written well and with great characters and an awesome setting. There's a vampire stigma that we can thank "Twilight" for. Not ALL vampire books are bad.

I enjoy the paranormal theme happening lately. I find it interesting to read the hundreds of different variations on the vampire tale.

Jazzy (stairstepjitters) | 62 comments I have yet to finish a vampire book or find one that interests me. I think I'm too much of a fan of the horror aspect of vampire lore to enjoy the humanization and romance that's been added to the stories. Maybe someday I'll find one that fits but at the moment I have discarded the vampire genre of books to the side.
