Still on Barsoom, and it's still my favorite imaginary world. Wrapped up The Master Mind of Mars and progressed directly into A Fighting Man of Mars, so I'm more than half way done with the series.
In June I am not sure what to read as I have a big list. Depends on the time. Currently readding Dean Koontz latest for a change in genre. In May I finished The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant and I now await the final book (next year). Or I may just join Raz in taking on another Malazan book.
So far, Forever, Half Blood Blues, Let the Right One in, The Dragon Keeper - all for different groups. Then Blackout which was great. Now starting The Sisters Brothers as I have to read a Western. One of the clubs is genre.

starting sometime today I guess :P"couldnt wait any longer - already almost through chapter one lol
I was camping last week and got a lot of reading done. I finished Throne of the Crescent Moon and A Princess of Mars. I also started and finished The Creatures That Time Forgot and The Windup Girl. The Windup Girl was my first biopunk. It took me a while to get into but I'm really glad I stuck with it. It was a great book and I highly recommend it. I'm now working on Sharp Teeth. It's taken me some time getting used the writing style but it's a LA punk kind of story and I really like those.
Finally finished Midnight Tides. Will start The Bonehunters soon as well, maybe even later this day.And I'm also still readingThrone of the Crescent Moon

heh you caught up with me lol
Hahaha I guess so :P It's just that I suddenly realized that Tehol and Bugg were amazing and after that reading went a lot faster.
Yvonne wrote: "Hahaha I guess so :P It's just that I suddenly realized that Tehol and Bugg were amazing and after that reading went a lot faster."heh, didnt those two strongly remind you of Vladimir and Estragon from Waiting for Godot? I mean, as for me, totally... just Erikson made up even funnier situations...
now I'm on The Bonehunters, and there are again two mad chars, two wraiths accompanying Apsalar that are in constant arguing, and funny one at that :D
Finished Throne of the Crescent Moon yesterday. It was just ok for me. I said a bit more in the book club thread.Just reading a non-fiction on my Kindle now and still tackling A Clash of Kings as well.

Unfortunately I don't know that book, so I don't know if they are alike or not.
Good to hear that! I'm looking forward to meeting them. (I'm still at the prologue hehe)
Just finished the 1st Malazan Book (did not like it) and currently reading the 3 Riyria Revelation books. (I like those a lot better!)

What did you think of it? I struggled through the 1st two of these, and found it difficult going.
Ronald
I read the original series years ago and I love them. They are hard reading but worth sticking with.
Just finished A Fighting Man of Mars and started Swords of Mars. Gradually closing in on the end of the series.
Finished Fablehaven on the plane - quite good - and am partway through The Lies of Locke Lamora - also quite good.

Took a short break from
to finish up Kim Newman's anthology
. Newman's Diongenes Club is hugely enjoyable as he throws in numerous tropes and inside winks to past S&F classics.
I am reading both A Game of Thrones and The Well of Ascension. I just finished Mistborn: The Final Empire
I am reading the WHeel of Times sereis by Robert Jordan. Just finished THe Eye of the World, beginning THe GReat Hunt. I am also reading "Dance of Dragons" by George Martin. How do you put the book icons on your comments?

Dana wrote: "I am reading the WHeel of Times sereis by Robert Jordan. Just finished THe Eye of the World, beginning THe GReat Hunt. I am also reading "Dance of Dragons" by George Martin. How do you put the book..."If you click on the 'add book/author' link at the top of the comment box, a window comes up. You type in the book title, click 'search' and then 'add' when the title comes up. It allows you to specify if you want the title or the cover.
I'm about to start Throne of the Crescent Moon I've talked a bit to Saladin online through twitter and what not and he sounds like a really cool guy.Oh and @Ronald - thanks for reading and giving compliments to the Riyria Revelations...for what it's worth I've heard that the first Malazan book can be a difficult read, but supposedly if you read the second you'll fall in love with the series. I've yet to test this theory ;-p.
I've finished Furies of Calderon and am looking to start on some of the sequels to books that I've read this month in July. The rest of this month is going to be spent writing my own work though and hopefully reading (and reviewing) a few self published works.
i just finished Lord of Chaos and about to start A Crown of Swords, also reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and I, Lucifer: Finally, the Other Side of the Story by Glen Duncan
Just finished Synthetic Men of Mars and started Llana of Gathol -- almost done with my time on Barsoom. (Well, unless I watch the movie. Or read John Carter, Warlord of Mars Omnibus, a collection of the Marvel comics series from the 1970's.)
Finished Midnight Tides last weekend, and I'm 450 pages into The Bonehunters. An amazing, amazing series...
Chris wrote: "Finished Midnight Tides last weekend, and I'm 450 pages into The Bonehunters. An amazing, amazing series..."im only a bit further than you, like around page 600 or something
Helen wrote: "Well I think you should do both in the interests of completion."My plan with the movie is to try to convince myself that it's about a totally unrelated person named John Carter going to a completely different alien planet. It wasn't a terrible movie, necessarily, but I don't think it did justice to the source material.
But nothing will do justice to the source material until they let me write & direct on an unlimited budget.
In fantasy, I've only read A Wizard of Earthsea this month.Currently 200 pages into The Wise Man's Fear. Pretty good so far. I was worried it wouldn't live up to my memory of the first one, which I read without any real expectations and was a pleasant surprise. Seems to be about the same though.

Just about done reading The Wise Man's Fear and I am liking it just as much as the first one myself. Rothfuss does a good job of keeping me interested in what is gonna happen next and changing the story just when it seems to start to bog down. It is a long book though, over 800 pages in and still about 200 to go.

tell me about long books - The Bonehunters 1200 pages, and the ones awaiting me:
Reaper's Gale - 1280 pages
Toll the Hounds - 1280 pages
Dust of Dreams - 1260 pages
Crippled God - 1180 pages
:D
but I love the series so far and The Bonehunters got me even deeper into the series :)))
It certainly is long, but the Rothfuss's writing is so incredibly easy to read that I find his books go a lot faster than even most fantasy. Earlier this month I finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, which I loved and wouldn't call a difficult read, but I have no doubt I'll finish Wise Man's Fear five times faster despite it being 400 pages longer.
I finished all the G R.R. Martin Game of Thrones books that are available, and have been re-reading them. I'm also working my way through the Malazan series by Erickson..... btw Helen I love your penguin.
Thanks, it reminded me of the Penguin books pic. I'm a cat now.I was testing how easy it would be too swap picture then realised that as I'd joined via facebook years ago I'd never saved my picture!
