Teddy, don't take Shelly's comments to heart. She was being rude to people on another HoN thread and kept telling this one girl to F off and insulted her parents.

She lost her virginity at 17. How the fuck does that make her a whore? Cause she kisses other dudes? Grow the fuck up, that's normal fucking teenage behavior.

Yeah and normal teenager of this generation are fucking idiots!! And that is not okay, at least not to me.

You should just mind your own business and shut the fuck up.
I'm tired of all you pieces of shit coming on here and spreading the message that it's alright to call someone a whore. I'm not the best role model but at least I don't make the young kids reading these posts think it's alright to call other kids at school whores. Good job on promoting bullying. You deserve a fucking award.

Of this generation? It's been the same for the last few generations

I agree. My problem with Zoey isn't that she is sexually active- people can make out/sleep with anyone they want- it's thier life. But Zoey was supposed to be commited and she knew that cheating would hurt everyone involved.

Woah, you clearly need to chill a little bit. And as I said before, it's never OK to call somebody a whore (I would never do that myself) but I still think for someone as judgmental as Zoey is, she could be a little more restricted in her actions. I mean, it only makes sense. Or if she embraces her behavior, she would be a little more understanding of characters and their flaws ( instead of repeatedly calling Aphrodite a whore)
And sorry, I don't think that having a code of conduct makes me a judgmental bitch. I'm all for doing what you want to do, just that you don't judge others by it.

We're not saying it's OK to call ANYBODY a whore! Honestly, the topic is whether it's OK to cheat on your boyfriend? And hands up, everybody, who says it's OK.
And Shelly, are you a high school teacher/ volunteer at a hotline (that's a genuine query, I swear, not sarcastic, cos you seem to be reiterating the issue of teenage suicide. A sincere qn, don't take offense )
And I can't believe I'm debating about this crap. I don't even like the bloody books. :/

Giving someone a blow job in the hallway is a little different than being seduced into losing your virginity.

That's the reason I've almost given up the series. My friends just seem to ooh and aah over it, but I can't just can't get past the fact that this girl is just easy and selfish.

"We're not saying it's OK to call ANYBODY a whore! Honestly, the topic is whether it's OK to cheat on your boyfriend?"
Have you read all the comments? Everyone is saying they don't like her cause shes a whore. Not a very good message to send young kids.

Exactly my point.
And secondly, seduced or not, it's her decision to have sex with Lauren. I mean, just because she was overtaken with lust or whatever it's called in the book to make it more appealing, does not mean that she was not consenting. It was still her decision, and just because she was 'seduced' doesn't mean she was 'unaware'.

Easy? Really? Losing your virginity at 17 is easy?

Like I said in a previous comment. She fucked up. She thought dude liked her and lost her virginity to him. Doesn't make her a whore. Poor judgment yes, whore no

And I'm exhausted with this debate. Am gonna go comment on something else now.
Since I did put 'Chosen' on my 'so-bad-should-be-illegal' shelf, after all. I'm spending more time commenting than I did reading the book. :D

Yes, she fucked up. Poor judgment, undoubtedly. And I'm saying that she should pay for it. And not think that it's her God given right to get away with it. Has anybody else noticed that Eric's character gets wayyy more creepier after they break up? And that he's implied a nasty, cheating bastard because he hooked up AFTER he and Zoey broke up?? *pretend shocked gasp* He's a bastard, all right. *snort*
It's simply bad taste, trying to make the reader accept that it's OK to hate Eric, just because he was creepy AFTER he broke up with Zoey, hence somehow making it OK for Zoey to have cheated on him BEFORE.
Does that convoluted argument make sense? :D

And I'm exhausted with this debate. Am gonna go comment on something else now.
Since I d..."
So how does cheating on your boyfriend make you a whore? Wouldn't that be called a cheat, cheater?
A whore is actually someone that get's paid for sexual pleasures. People use that word to describe someone that sleeps around. Now seeing as how she wasn't getting paid or sleeping with anyone else, she is not a whore

And I'm exhausted with this debate. Am gonna go comment on something else now..."
Fine, call her a cheater then. Semantics.

No Eric was being a possessive jerk before she cheated on him.

Ha!
Ha!

I was just stating how I felt about a certain character in a book. She cheated on her boyfriend (Erik) and hurt her Heath whom she had some type of sexual relationship with also. Mind you, this was alll at the same time. I think if she's suppose to be in high power she should be a little smarter about her life decisions. I never said loosing your virginity at 17 made you easy. I said Zoey was easy and clearly a hypocrite. she calls Aphrodite a ho all the time (that's not very nice) for doing something sexual with her boyfriend in a public place. Nasty, yes. However doesn't Zoey to do it also? Letting Erik feel her up in the courtyard. making out with Heath in the park. Sleeping with Lorent in a place that was easily accessed by anybody. Don't assume.

And I'm exhausted with this debate. Am gonna go comment on som..."
Semantics? Really? Whore and cheat are two very different things.

*tries to recall* No, I honestly can't. I read the books ages ago, and my brain has a habit of letting go of stupid shit.
Still, the fact remains that I would not recommend these books to anybody, not only because of the lead character and the debate about her morals, but mostly because it's a series of badly written books, held together with a flimsy plot, and a new hero every book.
Amen.

Wow, really? Do you even know what you write? Have you even read the books?
Eric was not Aphrodites boyfriend when she gave him head in the hallway.

Well Lorent certainly wasn't Zoey's boyfriend and she gave her virginity to him. Either way they've done the same things.

I never said they are good books. They actually are poorly written.

And by your logic, you think that's not OK? Going by your comments, you think sexual freedom is great, boyfriend or not ( ANd I'm there with you on that... but still, pick a side. :D)

Hmmm touche. Still doesn't make her a whore

Poorly written is a polite way to put it. Yayyy for being politically correct! *high-five * :D

Doesn't make her a whore. Makes her someone who makes mistakes, hence the habit of everybody acting as if she's the Supreme One gets extremely irritating after a while.

I never said she was. I just said she was easy. Which she was since she was easily misled by Lorent knowing the darker forces at work it her own school. Whatever she is, I dislike her as a character.

Most people do dislike her as a character. I dislike her as a character. She is not easy though. That's pretty obvious or Eric and Heath would have gotten some.

Well it seemed she was easy enough. I explained my theory in my other comment. I'll just leave her as a cheater if that word appeases you.

Well seeing as how she was in a relationship with Heath for so long and then Eric for a while and neither one of them got any. I'm going to have to say the she is not easy.
Let's all agree to disagree, shall we?

I'm going to have to agree with most of what she says.
Definitely not easy. Every girl that I have ever been with, we had sex the first day we met. Now that makes it seem like they're easy. Maybe they are but it also seems like that is the norm. Almost everyone I know is like that.

And to Daniel's comment above, not every girl is easy. You might know a lot of girls who will have sex with you the first day you meet, but there are a lot of girls who arent like that so dont give that stereotype that every girl is easy. It is definitely not the norm!

And to ..."
Well where i'm from, it is the norm.
Zoey is DEFINITELY a mean, rotten, disgusting cheater. Period.
As for her being a "whore"...what about all those times she drank Heath's blood? 'Cause apparently Imprints and blood drinking are kind of like sex. And THEN she had sex with Loren. So yeah, she's a bit like a whore.
Erik did not become a possessive jerk until Tempted. It felt like the Casts went, "Ok, everyone is getting bored with this love pentagon thing, so let's suddenly make Erik a possessive jerk so Zoey will dump him, and have Kalona kill Heath."

I agree with you on that point. I don't have a problem with Zoey as a character except that the only thing that really bugs me is that Zoey is really judgemental. That's the only big pet peeve I have with her. And the series is too long. I feel like it's a little dragged out and that I'm not as excited to finish the series as I used to be. I started reading the series when I was 14 (that was 4 years ago) and I had recieved the first 4 books in a box set and loved them because they were the second series I've ever read. My favourite characters are: Stevie Rae, Aphrodite, Stark, and Heath. Erik is growning on me, though I don't know what Zoey saw in him in the first few books cuz he was a jerk, but it's her fictional life and she can do what she wants. I don't judge her for it. The only big problem that I have with her is that she's very judgemental. Other than that I think she's a great character.

She's pathetic. She makes her own problems, look at Heath dying. If she'd have told him to go away from the beginning, that would never have happened. Zoey constantly victimises herself- she says it over and over again how she's been through horrible experiences and everyone should feel sorry for her, like she wants to be some kind of martyr. What kind of 'strong' heroine brags about all the 'traumatic' (as she calls it) experiences they've been through? She's selfish, disloyal and arrogant. But what *really* gets to me about Zoey and is that she and every other character in the series think she is some kind of angel. Some perfect, selfless, special angel. Without a doubt the WORST heroine I have ever had the misfortune of reading about.
P.S. Bad experiences or not, cheating on someone is never OK. Yet she can always justify anything to herself, nothing is ever her fault. As I said, she makes her own problems. She is worse than Bella Swan.
Actually, I think calling her a 'whore' is wrong, cos, well, I would never call ANY girl a whore unless she did something completely unacceptable. And I don't even object to the fact that she's making out with three guys at the same time, I just feel a little erm..how do I put this politely, disgusted? at the fact that she does it when she's 'committed' to Eric. I have friends who randomly make out with people, who sleep around, and that's really not a big thing!
For me it's more about the emotional commitment. Cheating is not OK, whether you're sleeping with the other guy or just 'making out' with him. That's one of the rules I personally stick to. :D
