Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I thought you knew who was voting for who?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments No, this is Pattis secret vote. Even I can't interfere

message 103: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Ooooh... So Patti temporarily stripped you from your powers?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Seems like it. I am still trying to work.out how :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She stuffed you into a cannon full of custard?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Gingerlily (or Cyberlily..) wrote: "She stuffed you into a cannon full of custard?"

And left me there all night!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Patti, are we still having lots of "joint first/second/third" positions?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments We could do with some more votes I think.....

message 109: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yes we need more votes!

3 way tie for third at the moment.

message 110: by D.D. Chant (new)

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Isn't the result out today???

I'm dying to see if the one I voted for won!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I hope all entrants have voted!

I guess ties are acceptable.

This is the last day of voting, DD. Results tomorrow (or very late tonight, depending on Patti's schedule).

message 112: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I haven't worn a tie since grammar school, DM.

AHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

The suspense is killing me!

message 114: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I *think* the poll closes automatically at midnight, so I can go to bed when I wish. ;)

Be sure to get your votes in today, you lot!

message 115: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Exciting stuff!

message 116: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Where do you vote? I looked at this before and couldn't work it out

message 118: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I got it now but the poll doesn't seem to be open anymore, or at least I couldn't work out how to vote. I think the next time though you should leave out the authors names so it's anonymous and therefore more fair.

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Jud, we already decided on doing that next time ;)

message 120: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Oh I didn't realise you could see the result once you'd voted !!!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I think there's been some teething problems ;)

message 122: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Yea I saw Jud's post, sounds like it's closed... it's been midnight in a few places already :)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Yes, but not the UK or the US, which is quite perplexing.

message 124: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hoping it's open again now. I changed the closing date to the 12th.

Would be nice if we could set our location time in here...

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Thanks, Patti - so it is likely to end around one of the US time zone midnights? So somewhere between 4-7am ish tomorrow I guess?

message 126: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I didn't see the results when I voted(hope it's gone through).

message 127: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I only managed to see a poll once. It vanished then. Presumably so I couldn't vote again?

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Please let people know where to vote - bit hard for us entrants to do it, because it might seem like we're pushing fans to vote for us! (on the next "numbered" poll this won't be an issue so much)...

message 129: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The poll has now been closed and deleted.

I'll announce the results in the morning.

Goodreads is too temperamental tonight.

message 130: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments The power!

message 131: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Stuart wrote: "The power!"

If I had true power we wouldn't have had bad gateways and Alice in the chair all evening!

Argh!

message 132: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments We all need a rest occasionally I guess!

message 133: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, gave me a chance to reread a bit of Hitchhiker, so it wasn't all bad.

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Bad gateways can be a terrible thing. You never quite know in which time or place you might find yourself...

message 135: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments That's Dread Portal you're thinking of, Darren ;)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Who's he? :)

message 137: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Dread Portal? Cousin of Darth Maul.

message 138: by D.M. Andrews (author) (last edited Jun 12, 2012 04:04AM) (new)

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Oh, right, brother of Dark Corridor? I'm always bumping into him.

message 139: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Right.

If I remember correctly, Darren wanted first, second and third to be announced.

First place IGNITE

Second place tie STUART AYRIS and SIMON

Third place tie DARREN HUMPHRIES and DM ANDREWS

message 140: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments WOOP!!!

Congrats Ignite

And of course Stu, SImon, Darren and DM :o)

message 141: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments As I mentioned in the morning thread, if anyone would like to volunteer to take over managing the writing contests for a while, I'd really appreciate it.

I feel guilty that I haven't the time to manage it properly at the moment.

Of course, I'm more than happy to continue doing the bits that require mod power, such as opening the polls.

Please, if you're willing to do it, contact DM Andrews for details of what is required.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Congratulations Ignite! And also to our gallant runners up. Actually I thought there wasn't a poor effort among them all, excellent standard. Thanks folks!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Well done, Ignite!!!

Now just give us the links to your books and we'll tweet them to high heaven! Hmm...

Well, OK, bit of a flaw there, but at least you get to set the next task! :)

message 144: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I believe the expectation is that Ignite will be setting the parameters for the next writing contest as she's the winner?

Are you okay with that Ignite?

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments Patti said:If I remember correctly, Darren wanted first, second and third to be announced.

No, no - I said I wanted to *win* first, second and third place ;)

message 146: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Yay, well done everyone ! Ignite, you deserved to win !

Bit sad I never had to fight with Simon for the last place... you did well dude !

And a heartfelt thank you to the person who voted for me :) MWAH !

message 147: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well, thingy-me-sideways with a ragman's trumpet!
There's a daft turnip for the books.

I voted for Simon because he told a great story but still described the scene. I deliberated. There were 3 more I nearly went for.

I'm happy to set the next parameters.
What's a parameter? Do you measure silk for parachutes with it?

When do I have to decide?

I'm a bit excited! I was away joining Twitter so I could tell people about all these brilliant books I've been reading and when I come back, this has happened. It might be my first tweet. I'll have to find out how to do one!

message 148: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I voted for Simon too :) Just cos' his story made me laugh :)
But there were some beautiful entries too :)

message 149: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments There were.

Is this like the Oscars? Do I have to make a speech and thank all my family and then cry?

message 150: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments I wished that I could have voted for more than one - I dithered between two of them before sticking a pin in.
