Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Thanks, Anuhea. Kansas can be any kind of weather at anytime. The motto for Kansas weather is wait a couple of minutes and it will change. It is very unpredictable. You never know what could befall you on any given day. It's actually kind of fun this way. You can't get too bored with any one kind of weather.

How old is this group? What day was it started?

Lauren (djinni) The mod would know, probably.

message 106: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) The person who started this group isn't in it anymore, as far as I know. But I can answer your question! It's a couple months old.

Perpendicularandi wrote: "Thanks, Anuhea. Kansas can be any kind of weather at anytime. The motto for Kansas weather is wait a couple of minutes and it will change. It is very unpredictable. You never know what could be..."

Same in michigan. Here we say, "Don't like the weather? Wait five minutes"

Actually, I have a story about some unusually crazy wind last may...

message 109: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I think this group started around 01/03/2009. So, pretty much around three months and seven days old.

Lauren,
You'll never find me where I'm hiding! A ninja may be able to attack, but can't find me!

Uh, okay. So, um, I'm from Ohio, and the weather's pretty much standard here. Hot in the summer, snows during the winter, wet and muddy right about now.

message 117: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) lololol

A ninja is everywhere at once, like...RIGHT BEHIND YOU!

message 118: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Ahhh! I knew I shouldn't have come back to the other white room! Uses SUPER JELLYBEAN POWERS!!

Muah ha ha ha! Jellybeans rule the ninjas!

Oh-hi-oh! I had a teacher that LOVED Ohio.

Yeah, even though we're like two hours from columbus some people are really into football. Personally, I don't get it.

message 120: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Isn't there like an Ohio State team or something like that? My teacher was really into that. He always wore the red shirts.

message 121: by Carole, bluest mod (new)

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
Yeah, they're from Columbus, our capital. Well, more specifically, from the state university at our capital, Ohio state university. And their theme colors are grey and red.
And I took forever to type a simple idea.

message 122: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe I know, he had the shirt, the pen, the calendar, the flag. It was kinda scary at the beginning of the year. He'd say that if they won, we wouldn't get homework on Monday. Well, gtg. tt4n!

message 123: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Haha, there's this weird rivalry between MSU/UM and Ohio state. it's pretty funny, actually. I don't understand it very much. Maybe because I odn't watch sports?

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
I don't either, but I have relatives who live in Columbus. And an aunt who works at OSU.

My mom's in Ohio right now. Gone for a week.

message 126: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) Story time!

I was about, 3 or 4 years old, and me, my mom and dad were going to drive from Jersey to Ohio to visit family. On the way there, only about an hour in, I demanded to stop so I could run around a bit. Rest stop=gift shop. So I run in, and see a stick, with a crocodile head on top, and a hand at the bottom so you can open/close the mouth and bit people from about 3 feet away.

So, my dad drove across Penn, with me in the backseat with my crocodile, biting the back of his neck through the hole in the headrest, yelling "I bite you, Daddy!" for about 6 hours.

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

HAHA, YOU'RE SO CUTE.

message 128: by Lauren (new)

message 129: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Haha! My dad would get sick of that pretty quickly. It runs in our blood. Patience in my family isn't very big. Especially me.

I don't watch sports either. I just don't understand the football, volleyball, baseball, soccer...etc. terms.

message 131: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) There is a sibling rivalry between KU and K-State. You either have to be a Jayhawk (KU) or a Wildcat (K-State). Don't even begin to think that you can like both teams. It just ain't happenin'. They get pretty nasty with each other too. From the standpoint of someone who doesn't care one way or the other, it is pretty hysterical.

message 132: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Whoa. I have no idea what those teams are, but that sounds pretty scary. The only big fight I've seen is at school when a kid kicked the dean. That's as bad as I've seen. What sport do they play? I'm not going to assume it's just football.

message 133: by Carole, bluest mod (new)

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
"The only big fight I've seen is at school when a kid kicked the dean." Whoa, a kid fought a dean? I'd pay to see that, I think.
K-State sounds like Kentucky.
Wouldn't put money on it, though. (Get it? We're talking about sports, and I made a gambling reference? Oh, never mind.)

message 134: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Well, here's how it goes:
These two kids were fighting.
The Dean and the 7th grade assistant principal go to see what's going on.
They try to separate the two kids.
The kids still try to break free to keep on fighting.
The two adults tell them to stop.
The kid kicks the Dean.

I've only seen three fights. Once there was a rumor that these two kids were going to fight. They were girls. Luckily it wasn't true.

Also, this one dude beat up a kid because he thought the boy was flirting with his girlfriend.

So stupid fights now days.

Er...I don't understand the gambling reference, but okay.

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
Put money on it? Gamble money on a sport? Still lost? That's the way it is with most of my humor.

message 136: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) I get the reference!!!

Perpendicularandi wrote: "There is a sibling rivalry between KU and K-State. You either have to be a Jayhawk (KU) or a Wildcat (K-State). Don't even begin to think that you can like both teams. It just ain't happenin'. ..."

Haha, same thing between MSU (mighigan state university) wolverines and UofM (university of michigan)spartans. Except it's okay to like both when ohio comes into the picture. :)

Anuhea wrote: "I've only seen three fights."

I have never seen a fight and I'm quite glad.

message 137: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Oh! Guess what? My school mascot is a phoenix! Except I don't really know our school colors... how sad. But we don't have any sports teams. People play sports for their home schools though. (it's complicated...)

The mascot for my school is also technically an eagle, but it's pretty complicated to explain... See, my school is inside (literally) another school. My first two classes are in the school that is technically my school, and then I have other classes that are in my actual school. So, technically, I have two schools...

So, you must live in a pretty populated place.

message 139: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe My mascot is a panther. How would someone dress up as your mascot? That is a strange school you go to. Not saying it's bad, it's just strange about the different school thing.

Isn't it like that if you go to a school because you're behind and need to catch up on credits? That's what my younger brother is in.

message 141: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) HAha, no, not my school AT ALL. It's actually more advanced... all the classes are equivelent to honors/AP, and the juniors and seniors (ALL of them) do the IB program. Not sure if you know what that is but... it's basically something that is internationally recognized, and with a diploma, you could be qualified for just about any college in the world.

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

I know what the IB program is (x

Okay, just checking. Because it sounded a lot like the opportunities program he's in.
That's what it's called.. Opportunities.

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments I live in Arlington, Virginia, which is superduper close to D.C. Like all we do is cross a bridge and we're in it. Also the pentagon is in Arlington.

message 148: by korrinamoe (new)

korrinamoe Cool! Well, it seems like you go to a WAY TOO complicated to understand public school. Well, I kinda get the idea.
What's homeschooling like? It sounds fun.
Virginia? I want to go! I live in Florida. The retirement state. Or the Sunshine State. Boring. It's hot and thankfully not humid yet.

message 149: by Carole, bluest mod (new)

Carole (cbusedtousethis) | 138 comments Mod
I like homeschooling, personally. A lot of the day it's quiet, and rather self-determined, as far as when you get done. For me, the work's not hard at all. You can do it pretty much whenever, wherever you want. In our area, we also have homeschool choir and art and drama and gym classes, and I started a newspaper this year, so we're not isolated or anything.

message 150: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 85 comments Florida, that's nice but I've only been there a few times. Arlington is pretty much stereotypical suburb.
