Is anyone here doing any summer classes or intensives? I AM! I'm doing a summer workshop-once a week for four weeks-for leaping, turning, stretching, and conditioning. :D

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments I'm doing some Irish privates and a workshop or two, and I might do a camp at my non Irish studio, but I'm not sure. I'm also going to at least three feises in the summer, so I will be doing lots of personal practicing.

That's awesome! :D I really want some privates for pointe, tap, and Irish. :]

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments I've never done privates because my non Irish studio doesn't do them and the ones at my Irish studio are expensive- $60 hour or $30 half hour! But my dad said he'd pay for me to do some.

That's awesome! I don't think our studio TECHNICALLY does privates, but if we payed for them, I doubt they'd say no. XD

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments LOL! I don't think my non Irish teacher would do privates unless you were a senior doing a solo, just because she's very fair.

Today's class was AWESOME! Crazy painful, but awesome! :D Here's how it went:

So, we did normal stretching for a while, nothing out of the ordinary.

Then we worked on turns {which was so simple. XD}, starting off with simple chaine, pique, chaine, pique, etc. Then we did some lobbing leaps, just 'cause. XD THEN the younger girls went to the barre and worked on the movements of a fouette turn. Some of the middle girls {not older (I'm considered older), not younger, but in between. XD} worked on pirouettes, and then the older girls in the group {we split into groups} worked on foutees! :D IT WAS SO FUN. <3 I was out of practice and doing them wrong at first, but my teacher reminded me and I got 'em down again. ;]

Then we learned a combo that was REALLY awesome. It was to Pon De Replay because she couldn't find any other songs at the moment. XD It was pretty fast and we were all adding our own touches to it. Fun stuff!

And then we went to stretching. O.O It.Was.Crazy. Our head teacher {I guess you could call her that. She teaches and owns the studio} wanted us to work on back flexibility, and so our teacher REALLY made us work on it. Thirty bridges and about three rocking horses later . . . XD

Then we went into the "big studio" and all the groups showed the combinations we've learned. It was REALLY, REALLY, fun. :]

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments That's awesome! My studio doesn't really work on fouettes or pump turns, so I'm working on them at home this summer. Any tips?

I had an Irish private today. It was really good, but she worked me HARD!!! Well, I have a feis this weekend, so she kind of had to. :P

Thanks! My studio obviously does. XD I love fouettes and a la secondes {AKA pump turns}. Well, the YouTube channel KBMTALENT has lots of great tips for you to check out on that! :D

Awesome! :D I love being worked hard. I was worked like crazy today and afterwards I couldn't stop smiling! Oh, and to top it all off, I was asked if I wanted to be in production. O.O

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments I've seen that channel, I think! It's the Autie Miller one, right?

I do too! And congrats on production! :)

Not quite, it's her mom's, but she is in almost every video! :D

Thanks so much! I really hope it works out. :] I'll be paying for a bit of the tuition if it works out.

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments Yes, I've seen those!

I have to use some of my birthday and Christmas money for some of my feis fees and costume stuff for Irish. My parents pay for everything for my other studio, but I am expected to pitch in.

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments You get paid? Lucky!

Carolyn Mary (carolynmary) | 676 comments Mod
Well, yeah. XD It's less than minimum wage, though, so . . . XD

message 17: by Ginny (new)

Ginny (overthebridge) | 338 comments Still, you're lucky! I don't even get a break on tuition!

Actually, not sure if I'll be able to teach this year, so I'll probably just have to save.
