Anna I have always pictured my name being Vanessa, then shortening it to Essa, just like Tris changed her name from Beatrice to Tris or it would be something like Red or Ren. But my heart is set on Essa.

P.S.
I don't know about you guys but I totally know the release date of the movie! YAY!!!!!

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

Viola(:

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

Haye Lam Eden maybe or Storm ;)

Jenelle Compton I live in the woods. Always have. I like them and I think trees are cool. So some sort of tree I guess??

Rebecca I like the name Myra

message 229: by Mirkat (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mirkat Y'know, the names in the Divergent series are really pretty ordinary, wouldn't you agree? Beatrice, Caleb, Susan, Robert, Molly, Uriah, Will, Peter, Al, Jeannine, Tobias, Tori, Marcus, Andrew, Natalie, and so on are not exactly "out there" as far as names go. Why do we always have these dystopian-name threads where folks post that their name would be Shihendralala or what-have-you? Is it because of The Hunger Games?

message 230: by Nej (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nej Rhine or Ember

Seaspray13 Fenn I think...

message 235: by grapeseeds (last edited Jun 21, 2013 09:42AM) (new) - added it

grapeseeds I'd abbreviate my middle name and go for Nym:) Or I could just go with Tris, because I'm a Beatrice too..but I prefer Nym:D Plus I find Tris incredibly annoying.

FallingAngels I'd be Finnick, or just Finn! Or Caleb!

message 237: by han⚢ (new) - rated it 3 stars

han⚢ Either Starla or or Crystal. I've always liked the name Crystal.

message 238: by Barney (new) - rated it 5 stars

Barney Stinson Hmmm my dystopian name would maybe be...elvina

It's very different from my actual name but it means true. And in all the dystopian novels I have read, (very many :)) the names of the characters help them in situations when they need it. Like give them courage nad assurance. So I think that would be the type of thing that would help me

Jennifer Harris The Jenninator

message 240: by Polly (new) - rated it 3 stars

Polly Roth I love the name eve... but not genieve

message 241: by Mirkat (last edited Jun 24, 2013 01:11PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mirkat Julia: What's your dystopian name?

Winston: Winston. And yours is Julia.

Julia: Huh. But those are our actual names. How come we don't have different dystopian names?

Winston: Because we're characters in 1984 , one of the first dystopian novels.

Julia: So why is "dystopian names" a thing?

Winston: You got me.

notyourfriend I would be Kitty!

message 243: by Summer (buttermybooks) (last edited Jun 26, 2013 07:25AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

TheOriginalNikeGirl I just found a library slip that someone else had left in the book I'm currently reading, and I just thought that the name was really pretty.

Ingrid Rose.

That'd be a cool dystopian name, don't you think?

notyourfriend Why does that name sound familiar...?

TheOriginalNikeGirl Paigetwo wrote: "Why does that name sound familiar...?"

Well, it is literally a REAL PERSON's name, so, I don't know, maybe you know that literal real person?

message 247: by [deleted user] (new)

Ellie wrote: "Dystopian novels are my favorite type of books. I pile through them non-stop, and sometimes I wish that i could live in some sort of a dystopian society. But one thing that sticks out to me when re..."

Good question! I would choose Hops...I was the highest jumper in my teenage years. Theres also a cab company by that name but fits me perfectly if I were in a dystopian novel.
