People should get extra credit for names like Bolkonskaya
;-)
I got 165 wpm and got 2/3 questions right but that won't stop me from my love of reading. I know I'm a slow reader but I enjoy books. Just fun to see where I stood.
214 wpm with all 3 questions answered correctly. Granted this was on the Alice in Wonderland part. Missed all three on the first one and it said don't read so fast the first time
I am proud of myself -- i came in at 320 WPM and that was with Sword and Laser on in the background. Now to go back and start Tigana!
696 wpm. I've been blessed that this is my natural reading speed, no speed reading classes. It plays havoc with the budget keeping me in books. :::smile:::
I got 268 but got all the questions right. And I'm thoroughly envious to anyone able to get anything decent out of an audiobook. I am a TERRIBLE listener. podcasts I can do. maybe because they are talking normal as opposed to reading to you?
Tom wrote: "I'm not sure about this test. I got 323 WPM. I'm a very slow reader."I got 149 wpm! Slowest so far, Hurrah! I tend to read with an inner monologue voice, though, so I'm actually speaking the words to myself.
I got 599 wpm with 2/3 questions right. I'm thinking that's probably more my 'I'm reading this for class' speed rather than my pleasure reading speed.
Did it a couple of times, always came in between 270 and 300 wpm, but got the 3 questions right every time too. It says I'm just over the national average (American average I'm going to assume) and since I'm not a native English speaker I don't mind that at all. :)I can go faster if I speed read, but I made an effort to stick to my leisurely reading speed, which includes backing up a couple of words every now and then to make sure I understood it, English being my third language and all that (though because of all the reading I'm doing lately it's now better than my French).
665wpm but I don't agree with what they say in respects of books I could get through. Still an interesting test :)
Tried the other examples, 560 for one and 486 for the last, not bad, average around 450 then, I guess?
Pretty happy with 596 wpm and 3/3 questions correct. I kind of want to share this test with everybody though...

If you read at a normal speed the test is useful.

I was surprised to see 395. I know my husband will be way faster then me. lol
Seems variable. At first I got 270 wpm, and only one question right. Second time I got 536 wpm and all 3 right.

If you're using this, note that you can click the options in the upper right before you start to choose which book (of the 3), how big the font is, and the number of paragraphs from the book (4 to 15). The number of questions asked depends on how many paragraphs you chose.
678 words per minute according to the tests. I took it a few times to average it out as some of the samples were much easier to answer than others (Alice in Wonderland for example)
This was a really cool test. I got 400 words myself. Always thought I was faster though, hmmm. Maybe it's because I have the text larger on my Kobo eReader so I go through pages faster. Thanks for the link!
426 per min for Alice and WonderlandWhich means I can read War and Peace in about 22 hrs.
LoTR in 18 hrs.
The Bible would take me 30 hrs to read from cover to cover at this speed :D
Extending out the number of paragraphs really helps... feels SLIGHTLY more scientific. But really, I read War and Peace this year and it took a lot longer than it should've given the results... I think it really depends how... comfortable? the material is.
is there any more speed reading tests? I took it again and I just dont know if I trust it.

652 wpm with all 3 answered correctly. I'm glad I'm a fast reader so I can read all the books!! Haha.

This quite surprised me, because I'm not even a native English speaker.
I failed one question though, which is very typical for me: I read fast but I don't remember everything I've read.
