Jorge (jsalgueiro) | 68 comments Hi

The title and authors of this book is a bit of a problem.

1) The title is incorrect, it should be The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: Attar's Bird Parliament

2) The Rubaiyat and Bird Parliament are two different works by different authors, the former by Omar Khayyam, the latter by Attar, so I'm not so sure if the second part is actually a subtitle. However, I see no other way of putting it.

3) The editors clearly meant Omar Khayyam to be considered the main author. His name is the one (and only) that appears on the book cover and on the book spine (not sure if that's the word). Not even the title appears on the front cover, only Khayyam's name. The title(s) appear only on the back cover. So I think the main author should be changed as well.

Please advise on this. I try to be cautious before changing titles and authors.

Cheers,
Jorge

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments I am sorting out the english / persian/arabic editions. Once that is done we can look at separating out / review what should be done here

Carolyn (seeford) | 573 comments Is this perhaps an omnibus of two works by different authors? Those I generally separate the titles with a slash, rather than a colon.

Jorge (jsalgueiro) | 68 comments Ok, Paula.

And yes, Carolyn, it is an omnibus of two works, and a slash sounds much better.
