Last challenge I wanted to complete all the 30 point challenges- and I met that goal :-) So this time I'm going to challenge myself to get more than 800 points (I don't think I'll complete the challenge- I'm pulling a lot of extra shifts at work this summer).
Since the Fall Challenge is right around the corner , I thought I'd ask if any of you guys have new goals for this one ?
My goal will be to beat my own record from the Summer Challenge .
How about you guys ?

I like the idea of trying to complete all the tasks in a point number, like the 5s, 10s and 30s....

Also... I hate seeing my name as a screw-up on the Wall of Shame, so of course I will be checking and rechecking before I post each time! :)
Happy Challenge, everyone!

In order to meet my ultimate goal of reading more I think I am going to try to finish the 5,10 and 15 point tasks first.
THEN if I still I have time, I will start on the remaining tasks.
Have a great challenge everyone and happy reading to you all :)

I'm going to finish it for Fall - mostly because I really want to clear my TBR shelves!

For the Fall Challenge - I will be again shooting for 50%. It will be difficult though as I work full time and will be taking a u. course that has a hefty reading list.

I usually average between 13-17 books in a challenge, but I try to read longer books and go for the big book tickets. And I try to do the 15/20/30 point tasks.
But I think if I were to focus on REGULAR sized books instead of BIG books, I would have a chance at completing all 20 of the 5 and 10 pointers.
Decisions decisions...

I'm working on reading the classic novel list in The Well Educated Mind by Susan Wise Bauer, so my path is already laid out for me. I'm currently reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, followed by The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy, The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, and The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane. This is my first challenge, so I'll be trying to get as many points as possible for these books (and more if I get to them) and using that number as a benchmark for next time! I can already see that Anna Karenina will fit into Task 26.5, Option 5: a book written between 1815 and 1914. If anyone enjoys working out the puzzle of how to maximize scores, please have at it. :)

In general, the 20 point tasks give you the most points per book (20/book). Then the 1 book 15 pointers and the 30 pointers (15/book). Then the 25 pointers (12.5/book). Then 10 pointers (10/book), 2 book 15 pointers (7.5/book), finally 5 pointers.

I'd just like to check a few books of the TBR list by the end of the year, and this looks like a really fun way to do it!

Using my personal src-challenge shelves I decided to calculate some averages. I discovered that I finished approximately 27 books during the fall challenges from 2009-2012.
So that’s my number to beat. I aim to finish 28 books for Fall 2014!

OK -- my goals are to read as much as possible since this is my first challenge, I have no metric on points.
I'm currently in the midst of a personal goal to curb book buying until I've read more of what we own, so I'm trying to get as many tasks completed as possible with the books we own.

I DO own books - quite a few - but the kind of stuff that I keep on my personal shelves are reference type books.

*finished early/written 30-point task
*finished/written 25-point task
*written 20-point task (Moderator's Pet -- staying off the Wall of Shame will probably never happen again!)
*finished first at the midpoint/written 50-point task
*Top 3 at midpoint/picked a Group Reads category
*Top 20 at midpoint/nominated a book
So unless I become a moderator, I've pretty much covered it. I guess my goal could be to be the fastest finisher (to write Task 30.1) but often how fast I progress is out of my hands with work and personal schedules.

I have a To Read shelf for books that I actually own (921). I created a Wishlist shelf for books that catch my eye on here and would someday like to read (2663).
There's no way I'll ever get to all of them!

My aim for Spring 2015 is to get 500 points, as I'm pretty busy this spring with work.
I also want to keep myself off the Wall of Shame ... let's see how this works out :)

I want to complete the challenge in Spring 2015.
Except I haven't read that many books in a three month time period since I was in college, so this will be different! Especially since it already includes books I would have never read otherwise and the tasks aren't all posted yet.
It will be fun to see what happens.

My primary goal is to reduce my TBR so most of the books I'm using are ones that I already have. My secondary goal is to see how many tasks I can complete this first time.
Good luck, everyone!

To do better than I did in the Winter Challenge (my first). I earned only 175 points out of 1000+. One issue I had was too much reading that wasn't in my Winter Challenge plans - things became available from the library and I spent time reading those. Also, I had a number of "two book" tasks of which I only read one book, for multiple reasons. I'm going to try and avoid that issue. I see now I will never get close to 1000+ points in 3 months - I just don't have the time, but would like to improve on my past showing.
I'd better get planning though - have barely looked at the Task List so far.

My goal is to complete all of the 30-point tasks early, and to surpass 500 points this time. I also hope to have zero errors!
